A very slightly hazy, orange-copper color, this friendly and easy-drinking IPA opens with soft scents of earthy hop, expressed in notes of fresh pine and grass. Additional hints of grapefruit peel, lemon rind and bready malt round out the sip and carry through to the smooth, medium-weight palate. There's a slight stickiness that lingers on the finish, but it's clean and the bitterness on the end is fleeting. Lauren Buzzeo

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
