Want Quiet on Jun 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This unit is one of the quietest systems on the market today. When fully ducted the DBA rating is under 50
Is there a manual for programing the thermostat for the wine guardian 1/4 ton unit. The manual is very vague.

Can this be mounted above the ceiling of the cellar enclosed, but exhausting to outside?
Franky M on May 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I'm not an expert, but I believe the answer is "Yes". I mounted my unit above my cellar, but off to the side a few feet just because that is where I had room in the attic.
I plan to put this unit in my attic in North Texas where it can get 110°F outside. I have roof vents but it can still get 120°F in the attic. The unit will be cooling a wine closet so I will only be cooling about 100 cubit feet. Can your unit handle this environment. It can also get down to 10°F. Probably not that cold.

These units are junk
Unit is junk and Air Innovations/Wine Guardian, the manufacturer is completely unresponsive even though the unit is still under warranty. Spent over $5,000 for unit and installation just over a year ago. Unit failed four weeks ago and our HVAC contractor is trying to fix the unit and make right, but Air Innovations/Wine Guardian service is terrible and mostly unresponsive. Gave incorrect fix at first and now has no idea what the problem is. Have now incurred $1,000 and hours and hours of time with HVAC contractor trying to diagnose the unit with Wine Guardian's 'technical expert" who still cannot figure out the problem. Wine Guardian claims that they will replace parts but they have no idea what parts are not working after hours of troubleshooting and will not send a new unit. Obviously after so many hours and $$$ when the manufacturer cannot determine what parts are not working, maybe the unit is simply defective. We've now had a month with an unconditioned cellar full of expensive wine. After just over a year of use we now have to scrap this system completely and install and different unit from a different manufacturer. What a waste of money and time. Would strongly recommend against buying any Air Innovation/Wine Guardian products. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

We use this product for a wine cellar in our home that was built for us. It should handle a size of 2X yet is noisy when operating and virtually constant. We can hear it in the guest bedroom. What a mistake unless it is faulty.

Professional Cooling Unit
I am a General Contractor who builds wine cellars for restaurants and individuals. I have installed at least 30 of these units and found them to be very reliable and easy to install. The people at Wine Enthusiast and Wine Guardian have been very good to work with and have solved every problem with professionalism and concern to make things right to my satisfaction. This is the main cooling unit I use when I need a ducted system.
Professional Cellar System
We purchased the 1/4 ton unit back in 2006. The first unit did not auto extract the condensation causing a bit of an issue with water overflowing the bay it was in. Wine Enthusiast was quick to replace it.

Had I followed the installation instructions by placing a draining water catch pan with water alarm I would have avoided the problems I encountered. There have been no issues since then.

We had one service required when we noticed the temperature was not holding. W.E. searched out and found a qualified service company near us to research our problem. Long story short, you need to replace the battery in the thermostat at least annually if not at the same time you replace the batteries in your home fire alarm systems.

We are very pleased with our unit and will be installing another on in our new home leaving this one behind for the new owners.

Technical Support
Technical support was a big issue for my installation. Because of the conditions, it was not a simple matter to choose the right unit. John Tucci and Mike Militi helped me to select the proper unit and solve my temperature problems. I now have a 55? cellar.

Good Unit
Unit seems to be reliable. I did have some issues with an attic location when it is hot, so I had to move teh ducting to get fresh air from inside the house. That seems to address the issue of pushing the unit into automatic shutoff.

So far so good, but louder than Eurocave
I had three Eurocave's fail on me over the last 4 years. Their customer service blamed the repeated failures on the design of our cellar even though the product was selected by Wine Enthusiast before we built it.

We replaced it with a Wine Guardian. It is working fine so far, but is a bit on the loud side when running.
