I have attempted to use this product for coming up on 2 years and during that time it has worked 10% of the time. It worked great for the first 15 to 20 bottles but since then it only works once and then stops again until I can work the cork removal mechanism just the right way to get it to work again (usually takes about 15 min of fiddling with it to get it to work). What happens is that the internal mechanism that allows the cork to be removed from the pull device after removing it from the bottle gets stuck int the "release cork" position. When that happens it prevents you from removing a cork from the bottle. The screw screws in and when you pull the lever it screws out of the cork leaving it in the bottle.
At first this opener was great, but after just 2 months, the screw simply pulls out of the cork without opening the wine. I think it has to do with the lack of leverage since you are pulling basically straight up instead of kind of from the side on the regular Rabbit. I wish I could get my money back.
My wife got me the red vertical rabbit for my birthday. It is used approximatelt twice a week. It broke in July and I returned it to the company with my $10.00 Just got it back and it broke agsain. Returning it again without another $10.00. Really don't care if they fix it right or not. It is a piece of junk. bob from omena, mi
First, the corkscrew merely unscrewed from the cork rather than pulling the cork out. Called customer service and they had me replace the screw with the extra one in the box. That worked...and they sent a replacement screw. Nice people. After opening less than a dozen bottles, the black handle snapped off and the plastic hinges on the base of the unit broke. Customer service said they would send a replacement. I declined and will return it to the retail store for a refund.
I have found this to be easy to use and I use it often. I have found that it is not as easy to use with plastic corks but with regular corks it works like a charm. I am somewhat dissapointed that after all the "hype", I'm finding it to be average, at best. Does it work? Yes? Does it work well? Pretty well. It is worth the price? Absolutely not.
The plastic parts inside are not very durable, I plan to return the unit for repair under the warranty on the bottom of the packaging, however I question the wisdom of spending [$]more to get something that is not well made to begin with repaired, hopefully the new one or the repair will last
The gadget works fine, although my wife does not have the arm strength to use it on corks that are not easy to remove. I don't have thatblack piece coming out of the bottom - a holder,perhaps - and I sure would like one. I have to use the case it came in, and that's cumbersome.
This design is great. By gripping the neck of the bottle, you have much more control than the original rabbit. The matte black plastic handle swings out to accommodate different bottles, but attracts finger prints. It really looks awful after several uses, still works great!
I really love the red vertical rabbit. It's festive and so easy to use (and I could even use it when I had a wrist injury). The only issue is that the foil cutter isn't very effective. I've used my old foil cutter (it can even cut through metal).
