2021 Bien Nacido Estate Chardonnay
Our acclaimed Bien Nacido Estate Chardonnay is sourced from our W Block on the easternmost bench of our estate - one of the windiest in the region - where original Wente clones were planted on their own roots back in 1973. Classically Bien Nacido, with aromas of straw and chamomile interspersed with wet stone and lemon peel. Beautiful mineral notes balance out fresh fruit and tropical flowers on the palate. This wine has the characteristically firm structure of the 2021.
2022 Bien Nacido Grenache
With only one large Puncheon and such a small production, it is easy to see the razors edge which this single variety Grenache walks. Candied pomegranate, pineapple and citrus zest interweave with exotic spices and tropical flowers. There is minerality and firm, chalky structure on the palate that balances out the bright, vibrant fruit character of young Grenache. The tension and depth of the tannins will help this wine show well for at least ten years.
2021 Bien Nacido Estate Pinot Noir
Born of a number of blocks high and low on the hillsides of Bien Nacido, the Estate Pinot captures all of the traditional notes from this special site. Intensely perfumed black tea, mandarin rind and potpourri dominate the nose. While on the palate fresh cherries and cotton candy balance out exotic spices, sandal wood and sage.
2021 Bien Nacido Syrah
As is traditional from this Pacific Ocean facing block, the Syrah has beautiful aromas of lavender and honeysuckle alongside the earth. Followed by spiciness of tobacco, cacao, blueberries, sage, and chocolate on the palate. The black pepper spice is currently hidden by youth but is certain to develop with a few years in bottle. Open today and enjoy the fresh fruit and flowers or age 10 years and beyond as this Syrah continues to develop nuance and complexity.
