I liked my first 4 piece set and ordered a second set. Buyer beware--no quality control at Reidel. Second set is being sent back because of small bubble like flaws throughout the glasses. First set were perfect and second set should have been sold as seconds or thrown back in the furnace. Purchasing Reidel's tequila glasses has turned into a toss of the dice and would only buy after inspecting myself!
First came accross these glasses at a restaurant...such a great way to sip tequila and enjoying it in a dignified manner. I love them and my friends are always impressed when the occassion arises. Lovely and definitely recommended! Cheers.
Tequila glasses are perfect for extra anejo sipping tequila. They look nice and are functional pairing excellently with our other Riedel glasses and our Wine Enthusiasts Fusion Air Stemware. Highly recommend.
With tequila finally being recognized as a world-class spirit, Riedel has crafted an appropriate vessel to elevate its appreciation. Shaped to allow the drinker to note the legs on a fine anejo or concentrate its unique bouquet, this is the new standard for tasting tequila. If you drink even cheap wine out of specially-made wine glasses, why put expensive tequila in something other than the correct container? If you really enjoy tequila and want to take the experience to the next level, this set is a necessity.
Riedel glassware is not inexpensive but is well worth the cost. It is always top quality and very nice to use. I dropped a brandy glass from the kitchen counter and it landed on an area rug on tile and did not shatter. I was impressed.
Got one with a bottle of Herencia Historico & have since bought a case. Helps reduce alcohol and enhance other flavors/aromas. First noticed on Hussong's where the vanilla and buttery flavors suddenly appeared.
I definitely recommend these Glasses! I recently went to Puerto/Nuevo Vallarta armed with some excellent advice from friends who came from Mexico and have returned regularly. I returned with a few liters of fine, well aged Tequila and have proceeded to experiment. I spent several nights sipping from a small cordial glass at about a shot and a half. When I shifted to the Riedel, there was a finer degree of smoothness and it seemed like there was more of an emphasis on the Blue Agave Syrup trace that I hadn't noticed with my original crystal choice. If you want to experience a fine straight Tequila, these are the glasses. Make sure you have an accessible source, these glasses will encourage 4oz shots and this Tequila isn't available here in the States
I love Riedel products. I have met and chatted with Max Riedel. I have been lucky enough to meet many giants of the wine industry. However, the first tequila enthusiast I had to my home to try the Riedel tequila glass had the same reaction that I had privately. It's too wide. The height is proper but the width reminds some drinkers of a Champagne flute.IMO. the best tequila tasting glasses are tall and skinny. It concentrates the flavor and allows for a proper grip of the glass. In no way does this diminish my overall opinion of Riedel product. I own Riedel Burgundy bowls and the Riedel tasting glass. I was blown away in person by the Riedel dessert wine glass presentation at Wine Expo 2002. It took place in New York City. This glass falls a bit short. It fails to capture and present the flavor and aroma of fine Tequila. I never would have (could have) thought it so.Sincerely,Matt G wine enthusiast (not the magazine)
