When we opened the package, the marble slab had marks and scratches that did not come our with a wipe of a soft cloth. It is not worth sending back. In addition, it would have been helpful to have multiple rubber pads since our corkscrew is an antique and we had to add our own piece of wood in order to allow the corkscrew to be affixed to the stand. One rubber pad wasn't enough for our corkscrew. I would like to order a few extra to replace the temporary piece of wood.
I have yet to get a bottle open, although others have been successful. The product needs a foil cutter. The handle works in an opposite fashion from what would be a normal open and close motion. The bottle to be opened feels heavy when held with just the clamp.
The first one sent to us was at the wrong angle. The pictured one online is at the correct angle, as in PERPENDICULAR to the base. I called and there was no problem with sending us a brand new stand. The new one has the same problem. My husband intends to take it to a machine shop to have it straightened rather than put Wine Enthusiast to the trouble of sending yet another wrong one - no telling what their shipping cost to them is on the very heavy black marble one we ordered! We fear there is a design flaw here and Wine Enthusiast may be stuck with many of them! They should really look into this!!!!!!!
