I have one for two years. Suddenly instead of opening the bottle, it pushes the cork down into the bottle - disaster. Any ideas please?
Tim H on Oct 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The only way that would happen is if the cork screw was reversed. Which is hard to understand why unless it came out of the handle and was put back in upside down.

reading the description about the "original table model twist corkscrew", just what does that mean: I'm sort of interpreting that to mean that continuous turning of the unit on a cork will extract the cork from the bottle? Too, What is it made of ? From the picture ,it appears to be made of plastic. If so, will it be strong enough to extract difficult to remove corks? Does anyone out there have one? I'd appreciate any information you may have..

BEST ANSWER: I've been using one for over 30 years It's easy; no one needs muscle power. It's metal and plastic. Simple@ You just remove any metal on top of your win bottle opening, please the opener over the bottle top and turn!
You will watch the cork extract from the bottle - julst like that!

Easy to use, but broke at the worst time
The design is excellent: minimal, light weight & nice texture. But, in the midst of my dinner party, I was in the process of opening my favorite Riesling (very anxious to drink it, may i add) while praising what a wonderful corkscrew it was___the 'VELVET feeling 2-pronged grip broke at the top, in half, How EMBARRASSING! No back up cork screw, meant NO wine!
Best Corkscrew ever
It is very simple, very easy to use, it works quicker then it looks, not heavy or bulky and you look like a profectional when you use it.

Needs A Box
Article usually comes with a plastic storage container that holds it upright and out of the way when not in use. I miss this feature keenly.

Screwpull Original Table Model Twist Sty
I bought this item as a replacement the first one I owned
lasted 14 years. This durable corkscrew is a real workhorse as we open wine daily. It's simple, safe and clean. I've
tried the Rabbit Style, High pressure as well as Electronic Openers. The Screwpull Model wins hands down!!

Product Great. Case missing.
I miss the plastic stand (black base and clear cover) these items used to come with.

I would buy this product again and again
I had an "original" Screwpull cork-remover for about 30 years and somehow(?) misplaced it. Note: Bought it from Messina Hof Winery in College Station, Texas (1979). After I lost it, I bought a series of "fancy" and expensive cork removers during a period of about five years -- none of which measured-up to the simplicity of both cork removal from the wine bottle and removal of the cork from the cork-screw itself -- as did the original Screwpull. Consequently, I recently "tracked-down" (online) the Screwpull because I've been irreversably "spoiled" by the original Screwpull cork remover.

My Favorite corkscrew
This corkscrew is the most efficient and simple one I have used. I highly recommend it!

The best
When I tried this Corkscrew I was amazed. It is so easy. First off you do not have to remove the seal over the cork. Just position the corkscrew normally and twist. It is that simple. It is all I ever use and have given them away. I love it just about as much as I love wine.

Great Simple Corkscrew
The best simple, manual corkscrew available. The coating on the worm eventually wears out (3-4 years) making it less efficient, but otherwise it's great.
