One thing to know aboutPenelope Bourbon:it doesn’t distill its own bourbon. Rather, it has built a name using whiskey sourced from Indiana distillery giant MGP, and set it apart with interesting finishes, such as in French rosé or Hungarian tokaji casks. He didn’t have a booze background; prior to launching Penelope, he cofounded Bear Mattress with his brother, a company that rose to be ranked among Inc. Magazine’s fastest-growing private companies in 2019. A testament to his success: in June 2023, MGP acquired Penelope Bourbon outright.
