How much assembly is required, and when will the product be available? Thanks
Hootie on Mar 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I just purchased and assembled this wine rack. "Minor assembly" is completely misleading. I am pretty handy and it took close to 3 hours with occasional assistance from a 2nd person. Tedious and poor directions. There are 56 allen wrench screws to be put in small spaces to attach shelves......guess what, not all holes line up perfectly. The cross support holes were off by 1" or more. I ended up having to drill new holes. Finished product is ok, but know that this is not a fast or easy project. It is not a project for anyone that does not have good finger dexterity or is handy.
Can the unit be assembled leaving a few shelves out if larger items or boxes are placed on shelves?
MichaelP on Apr 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Free Standing Metal Wine Rack comes with 14 shelves and requires light assembly. You do not have to use all of the shelves provided but I highly suggest you use the wall mounts that come with the rack to avoid the wine rack from tipping over accidentally.
Does it need to be. Attached to a wall or is it truly fee standing?
Greg M on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Free Standing Metal Wine Rack (126 Bottle) is truly freestanding BUT we do suggest that in order to avoid the wine rack from tipping over accidentally, you should use the wall mounts which are included. Please scroll down on the item page and click on the manual tab for more details.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the shelf spacing allows for wider bottles, with room to spare. Cheers

Love this wine Rack
If you are looking for a sturdy functional wine rack this one is for you. A little bit of "some assembly required" and read the directions carefully on which is the outside of the side rails.
Holds 126 bottle and I attached to the wall per the directions.

Modern and ease retrofit
Installed 15 units in a basement, now instant cellar! 35" widths allow ease of arrangement. All types bottles lay well. The spacing for the horizontal slats hold a small dessert wine bottle as well as any 1.5 Magnum. I used the uppermost shelves for crates and larger (up to 3L formats) Some pinot and large formats (1.5L) will not nest without leaving a space, but because of the dense numbers a few blanks are more than acceptable.

Very nice wine rack
The unit is easy to install and good quality. The only problem is that the screws are not in a bag and they fell out of the box during delivery. I even found the screws in the driveway after delivery, Thus, I was unable to install all of the shelves due to the lack of screws. Same thing happened with both racks I bought. Hoping they send me replacement parts per my email tonight.

Nice piece....however
I would have given this a five star, but there were problems with this wine rack. The directions were terrible. The cross bracing for the back did not line up with the holes drilled. It required me to drill holes in the rack for the holes to line up. Fortunately, I am a builder and I have tools! Also, the box came damaged and many of the screws were missing, which required a trip to the local Lowes store for replacements. Once assembled the wine rack performs wonderfully. I'm not sure how they came up with "light assembly". I would suggest a bottle of wine and a couple hours.

i love the unit itself, but the delivery was problematic. the first unit arrived with pieces falling out of the box. as it turned out, there were a bunch of screws and a bracket missing. but rather than simply ship the missing pieces, i was shipped an entire 2nd unit, so I had to go thru it to retrieve the pieces I needed. this wasn't easy, as the box is super heavy. it would have been much easier if only the few missing pieces were shipped. and when the 2nd unit arrived, there were also pieces falling out of the box. otherwise the unit itself is nice.

Missing Parts
I haven’t been able to assemble the rack yet due to missing parts caused by UPS destroying the box upon delivery. Elizabeth is trying to get me the delivery date for the parts. Then I’ll give a review.

Nice Sturdy Rack [Fits Mag's too]
Truly appreciated the heads up on putting this together. I bolted it up loosely then tightened. Sides must be correct right and left. Go ahead put the cross members on back before shelving. Suggest throwing out screws and dry-wall hangers to mount to wall. I needed to buy webbing to reach studs in my garage. Side note: look at those dry-wall hangers, what keeps you from poking them through the wall? Nothing. Now back to the collection. Prost! RP H.

5 Stars!
Great wine rack. Assembly instructions are not great, but once I figured it out it was fine. I suggest putting on the top and bottom shelves first, and then the back cross braces. I discovered I had the left and right sides reversed. Once I switched them the cross braces fit fine. It would have been a real pain if I put all 14 shelves on before installing the cross braces. Hint: The nuts and bolts go on the outside of each side, not on the inside. The shelf spacing is great. I can get all 126 bottles on the rack.

Functional, elegant, and durable wine storage - Finally!
I read many reviews of wine racks before deciding on this one, mostly positive, but also some negative. Since many prior reviews of this rack had mentioned missing assembly hardware (nuts and bolts) and contents damaged in transit, I was uncertain about what to expect. Wine Enthusiast’s return policy gave me comfort, as did prior purchasers’ stories about the company sending replacement nuts and bolts to those customers who didn’t receive them. It turns out that my concerns were unnecessary. My 3 identical racks arrived in just 2 weeks, and I found them to be undamaged (despite one of the boxes being torn) and to have all assembly hardware intact. These are beautiful objects, if your tastes run towards modern/industrial décor. These aren’t the glitzy showpieces that some people like for their wine (e.g., polished wood, shiny brass, embedded mood lighting). The black steel structure is imposing and and suitable for display in a modern home, and ours look stunning in a storage room that we’ve dedicated to our wine collection.

The assembly instructions were simple to follow, and the assembly process was straightforward, if somewhat time consuming. You are basically setting up the frame of the unit overall, and then installing each individual rack, using 4 bolts for each rack. Just budget the time, and you’ll find that it gets quicker as you proceed. It took us about 40 minutes for each unit with 2 people, or 1 hour for 1 person. The all-steel construction is very sturdy, and the racks mutually reinforce each other, so the entire unit becomes sturdier as you install more racks. I’m convinced that it is impossible that this thing could collapse.

My only complaint isn’t with Wine Enthusiast, but with one of their contracted delivery vendors (Roadrunner), which didn’t seem to have any particular urgency in notifying me that my order had arrived at their warehouse. After 2 weeks, I contacted Wine Enthusiast to find out the status of my order, which I knew had long since shipped. At that point, everything flowed smoothly, and my racks arrived at my house 24 hours later. The nudge helped. Call me a “whine enthusiast” if you must, but hey… I was eager to get my racks! I am 110% satisfied. Purchase yours with confidence.

5 stars for the unit, 1 star for packaging and instructions
Just as many others experienced, when UPS picked up the box it had screws falling out. There is no excuse for this poor packaging. It's a heavy piece and it needs a stronger box and hardware in a separate bag. Then, also as many others experienced, we had trouble putting it together because the instructions are not detailed enough to be any help. Once we realized that the shelves rest on the side bars and the screws are on the outside, it went together easily. It's sturdy enough even though 10 screws and a nut are missing.
