i am looking at this rack for a limited space in our vacation home. ALL my bottles are Burgundy or domestic pinot. It sounds from the reviews that some double layer stacking may be possible with pinot bottles depending on the diameter. Is this true? What concerns be is some reviews saying that there is some variation in the slat widths so some bottles may fall through. I am ok with not keeping half bottles or narrow Germans, etc. in this rack...but is there any chance that 750ml Burgundy or domestic Pinot bottles would fall through some slats? Is there variation in slat width?? And since this rack is similar to one I saw on Amazon, there were a couple of reviews there that complained about poor quality and the welded parts breaking off...any history of that ? Thank you for answering these 3 questions.

BEST ANSWER: First, regarding question #3, I have not experienced any problems with the quality. Nothing has broken off, and the rack is quite stable. There is some minor variation in the slot width. I must say that the variations are few and far between. I have had one or two bottles that I felt might fall through but by shifting a different diameter bottle directly on the rack I was able to place the smaller diameter bottle on the double layer. Finally, most of my wines are 750ml. I have been able to double layer almost all of them with no problem. I currently have about 85 bottles on the rack so obviously many are double stacked. I also had limited space for the rack (it is on the wall of my laundry room) and it is very compact and sturdy. I am pleased with this purchase.
How high is it collapsed?
Robert L on Mar 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The rack folds into itself therefore the depth is reduced but the high of the rack remains the same - I think ts 44"
Last question before I order...what is the distance or clearance between edge of one shelf to the bottom edge of the one above it?
Thank you!

BEST ANSWER: The Folding Metal Wine Rack has 4 1/2 inches of clearance between each shelf.

Rack is OK, but the bottle spacing is NOT
The rack itself is very nice and seems to be sturdy. The rack spacing for the actual bottles is not right and some of my standard wine bottles fall right through. This greatly reduces the actual capacity of the rack.

Nice rack
Very sturdy, easy to assemble. Holds almost 100 bottles if they are Bordeaux style (fewer if Pinot). Can be bolted to wall, but I'm just using it in closet.

pretty sturdy, it works for me.
I installed this in the kitchen pantry/closet, I read many reviews about how the bars are to far apart, and some wine bottles fall right thru. So I did a little modification. I bought a 100ft roll of 5/16" clear vinyl plastic tubing, cut 90 or so 11" long pieces, then made a vertical cut down each of the 90 11" pieces and put each piece of clear tubing over each round metal rod. This closed the gap and now even the narrowest wine bottle sits nicely on the wine rack.

Great wine rack
Needed additional storage for wine that was easy to assemble and didn't take up too much room. This rack was perfect for us. Will caution that some bottles--i.e. cab, zin and bordeaux--may be tapered toward the bottom and will fall through the opening. For bottles like that we have stacked them on top of burgundy, chard and pinot bottles that are fatter on the bottom.

Folding Metal Wine Rack
Excellent product. Solved our wine storage problem for less $$$ than we anticipated. Must be anchored or tethered to a wall or something unless the floor is perfectly level.

Exactly As Expected
I did my homework and read all of the reviews. It truly does fit the bill for bulk storage that can be folded and put away when not needed (whenever that might be...). It is true that the rack spacing allows the most narrow bottles to slip through. But if you need a rack this large, you certainly will have standard or larger bottles that fit nicely. Any narrow bottles can stack on top of those. Problem solved.

This little shelf was easy. Open the box and then set the shelves. It holds a lot wine in a small space

Great Wine Rack
I really do love this wine rack for quite a few reasons. First of all the quality of the material is really good. Secondly, it slid right out of the box and the shelves dropped right into place. It really is assembly free! I had it up and filled within minutes. Bottles stack nicely and the unit stays balanced.

Very Nice
I purchased this rack to help out in doing some reorganizing. It's not very big, but I like it a lot. The only down-side is that some of the spaces are larger than the size of some bottles, so that they would fall through. I just arranged to have them in second layers, so not a huge problem.

Easy Peasy!
This rack was so easy to set up. Functional and not bad looking either, in case you have it outside of your wine room. Not a piece of furniture, but still nice looking enough to have in your basement wine area. Holds 94 bottles when bottles are stacked and comes with a bracket to keep it from tipping over, should a child grab onto it.
