Fully equipped with a Wine Guardian fully ducted cooling system, as well as the eSommelier inventory management system, this is the custom cellar that we all dream about having.
Lou Ann Hesch, our Wine Storage Consultant of over 20 years, was asked to share her experience on the design and construction of this unique, custom wine cellar…
What a fun wine cellar this was to design! This customer was new to collecting, but his passion grew quickly… meaning his collection grew quickly as well! We needed to provide storage for around 1,800 bottles. And in a 16' by 16' room like this, we had plenty of space to do so.
This particular customer had a highly customized home with a Grey Wash color scheme throughout. In working with the Interior Designer Linda Iannacci, we were able to coordinate the cellar wood stain and finish to match the theme of the home. And of course, all of the gorgeous double high reveal display racks with LED accent lighting simply brings out the best in this showcase cellar.
It’s not just the gorgeous custom racking that makes this cellar so special, but all of the finishing touches. That central island with the custom wood crate inlay is just stunning, particularly with the black granite top that is featured throughout the cellar. And the eSommelier inventory management system allows this collector to inventory every single bottle, and because it is loaded with our Wine Enthusiast ratings… this customer will know so much about every wine in his collection, including when it will be ready to drink!
While the beauty is in the collection and racking, the heart of this cellar is in the cooling. We used a Wine Guardian Ducted system for this cellar as it will cool to the proper temps as well as appropriate relative humidity levels. And because it is fully ducted, the only thing you see in the cellar are the vents and the controls. It’s so important to think about protecting these super ageable wines as well as displaying those fabulous labels.
The tasting/entertaining center is that special place where you can share your passion with family and friends. In this nook, the customer is able to pull out a bottle, open it and taste with others while enjoying the sheer beauty of this cellar. Of course at 55 degrees, you many not want to stay in the cellar for too long… as wine is comfortable at a much cooler temperature than we are.
We asked the customer to share some comments about the design and construction of this unique, custom wine cellar…
From start to finish, working with Lou Ann and Wine Enthusiast was truly a pleasure. Just getting into the wine collecting world, I really had no idea of how I wanted to lay the room out or how to protect and organize my wine. But Lou Ann said she had being doing this for over 20 years, so I knew I was in experienced hands. I couldn’t be happier with the end result, and look forward to adding more wines to my collection as my passion and palate grow!
