Fred and Anne Folco's passion for wine is displayed as soon as you walk down the stairs to the lower level of their home. Not only did they create a beautiful custom wine cellar, but an entire dining and entertaining area filled with wine barrel décor to make their guests feel like they have just entered wine country. The cellar is cooled with a WhisperKOOL SC cooling unit, protecting all of their finest selections they have acquired through their years of travel.
We asked the customer to share some comments about the design and construction of this unique, custom wine cellar…
“We moved a year ago and knew we had a nice space to work with for the cellar. We love to collect wine and have been for the last 12 to 15 years. We wanted to create a space not only where we could store and protect the wine, but to feature it as well.
I was thrilled to work on Fred's cellar in a town where I have spent many summers. Fred wanted to make sure he could incorporate his impressive works of art within the cellar and tasting area, which we were able to achieve in style.
Originally we had purchased a number of décor items from your catalog, such as the wine barrel bistro table and the wine bottle display table. In the catalog we noticed you had racking systems as well, so in working with our local architect we designed the space purposely to have enough room for the wine cellar. We sent those plans over to Wine Enthusiast and worked with Lou Ann Hesch and David Moseler on a design for the cellar that we really liked.
Here is a perfect example of a well thought-out and beautifully furnished world of wine and fun. This magnificent entertaining room exemplifies the true spirit of good friends, good wine and good times!
We knew that we wanted to have an area around the cellar where we could entertain, and have friends and family down there for dinner. By incorporating this entire tasting and entertaining area around the cellar we are able to stay in the wine cellar area the entire night, which can happen from time to time."
We used a display row for his finer bottles accentuated by LED lights and we centered the arch behind the double arched glass door. His 500 bottle cellar is fully protected by a self-contained WhisperKOOL system.
