Napa Valley’s New Luxury Winery Experiences

Napa Valley never stops trying to up its game in the luxury department, as producers offer updated experiences in elegantly appointed settings. Here are some new, or newly redesigned, tasting rooms for your next visit.

Trinchero Napa Valley

The Trinchero family first came to the Napa Valley in the 1940s, and its second generation has been building an empire across California ever since. With 200 acres across the valley alone, it now offers a sumptuous place to taste limited-production, estate-grown wines in St. Helena. Sign up ahead for experiences like The Art of Oak or Taste of Terroir. Open daily from 10 am–5 pm.

Arrow & Branch

Arrow & Branch recently moved into the Wheeler Farms Winery in St. Helena. It’s the latest project of Daphne and Bart Araujo, who recreated this historic property as a self-contained ecosystem of beehives and olive and fruit orchards. As a marquee tenant, Arrow & Branch’s Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon rule the roost, crafted by Winemaker Jennifer Williams. By appointment only.

Artesa Winery

High atop the windswept hills of Carneros, Artesa Winery has always been a beacon. However, the winery has outdone itself with its recently updated Grand Salon, where guests can enjoy tapas and pintxos paired with wine. Owned by the Codorníu Raventós family of Spain, the winery specializes in sparkling wine, but also makes Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, much of it sourced from estate vineyards. Open daily from 10 am–4 pm; reservations required for food and wine pairings.

Davis Estates

On the eastern edge of Calistoga, Davis Estates opened its Howard Backen-designed doors last year, complete with a commercial kitchen and pizza oven. Visitors can linger and relax as they overlook the surrounding valley floor and nearby mountains. Library tastings focus on the limited-edition Phase V wines made by Philippe Melka, held deep within the property’s 11,000 square feet of caves. By appointment only.

Lokoya

Lokoya’s beauty is exemplified by its structured, ageworthy Cabernet Sauvignon offerings—a quartet of wines from four of the valley’s famous mountain appellations. Its new home on Spring Mountain was the former site of the historic 77-acre Yverdon estate and vineyard. At approximately 2,000 feet in elevation, it’s a showcase for both the wines and the wilds of the valley, a not-to-be-missed experience. By appointment only.
