ProWein Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

ProWein has set records for both exhibitor and visitor numbers in recent years. This year is expected to be no different, as the 10 fully-booked halls will fill with more than 6,800 wine and 400 spirits exhibitors from across the globe.

Fairgoers can expect an extra anniversary buzz from the organizers and ProWein-themed merchandise will also be available for the first time this year.

The trade fair touts its “unparalleled scope” when it comes to wine—especially when compared to the 321 exhibitors in the show’s inaugural year, 1994.

To help visitors celebrate with ease there will be a direct bus, which was introduced last year, running from the fairground to Düsseldorf’s historic Altstadt, home to numerous breweries, bars and restaurants.

What Visitors Can Expect

As in previous years, Prowein will cater to existing and emerging trends in dedicated hotspots. Visitors can look for The Champagne Lounge, which will host a number of houses from the region, and Organic World, which will spotlight wineries producing bottles with only organic viticulture.

The Same but Different space will feature more than 100 international exhibitors of craft beers, ciders and spirits. The cocktail area, Fizzz Lounge will be all about zero waste behind the bar.

Visitors can keep abreast of global developments via tutored tastings at the ProWein Forum in Hall 10. In dedicated one-hour slots on both Sunday and Monday evening, trend scouts Stuart Pigott and Paula Redes Sidore will delve into themes such as high-altitude wines, field blends, wine in cans and up-and-coming varieties such as Chenin Blanc and Gamay.

These are in addition to the many tutored tastings, talks and master classes that take place over the fair’s three days.

ProWein credits its continuing success to organizer Messe Düsseldorf and that only qualified industry professionals are in attendance.

With its reputation for closing deals, expect ProWein 2019 to be another record-breaking year.
