How to Help California Wildfire Victims

Thousands have been driven from their homes by wildfires that have consumed Northern and Southern California. Here are some ways you can help.

In addition to the American Red Cross, The United Way of Los Angeles, The Salvation Army, The Los Angeles Fire Department Fund and The Humane Society of Ventura County, there are many other local charities to donate to.

Tri Counties Bank started a Go-Fund Me campaign that has raised $472,469 so far for the United Way of Northern California, The Salvation Army and Northern Valley Catholic Social Services.

Lisa Mattson, director of marketing and communications at Jordan Winery, issued a new edition of her book, The Exes In My Glass: How I Refined My Taste in Men & Alcohol, with a bonus chapter. All proceeds from the book’s sale will go to wildfire survivors. Mattson lost her home in last year’s wildfires.

You can also support the Butte County Schools Fire Relief Fund through the North County Community Foundation. Patrons can specify a certain district or use for their contribution.

Enloe Medical Center created the Enloe Foundation Camp Fire Relief Fund. Donations will be used to help Enloe caregivers, patients and families who lost their homes or have been displaced due to the fire.

Donate to the Butte County Humane Society to help the many animals have been displaced and injured.

If you are looking to make a donation to a specific family, consider looking at the GoFundMe Fire Relief page. Here they have a clearing house of active funds available. Do note that donations made to these accounts are not tax-deductible, nor have the individuals been vetted.

Airbnb provides an opportunity for property owners to gift homes, rooms and condos free of charge for those displaced.
