Has anyone used these on older bottles 20 years+? I have several bottles I'd like to open in that range and a corkscrew will generally just chew through the middle of the cork. Sure could benefit from someone's experience here before plopping down my money. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: That is the BEST remedy for Older corks with no integrity, the cork is easily removed with no debris floating.
You'll enjoy the everyday pleasure of it use. I highly recommend!
Since the gas is in a canister, is this permitted on airline travel?
Kevin S on Dec 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: While I don't have experience regarding your question. I would say yes if there were no opened canister. However, the safest bet would to call the airline you are flying.
An alternative idea would be to have an order of canisters sent to your destination.
Do you have one that can open a 54mm cork? What is the length of the needle?
Steve P on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The needle is just under 55 cm in length. I've had great experiences with the opener removing somewhat brittle corks from older wine bottles.

Makes cork removal fun
Its fun to see the gas hover in the bottle after the cork is removed. One of the foil cutter wheels broke off mine after about 90 cork pops, but it is still usable. As you learn how little gas is needed you can increase the number of uses per cartridge.

This is the best wine opener on the market! If you didn't like it...then you didn't use the product correctly. I have opened 100's of bottles and never had one explode like the other customer said. Very little gas is needed to push the cork out, but the needle has to put in the center and pushed down below the cork for the opener to work. Other then those tips, its a breeze!

Great when it works
On some bottles, pressure will not build and the cork won't come out. I assume the cork is porous or not tightly sealed. When it does work it is great & the cork lifts right out. Have had to use corkscrew on some bottles.

Great Wine Opener
I bought two of these for two family members' Christmas gifts . We tried both of them, and they work great! Both people whom we got these for, have always had problems with screw-type wine opener, but this makes it much easier for them. I would recommend this to anyone who either has a tough time with regular wine bottle openers, or would like something a little different to add to their wine cabinet. :)

good, but could be better
for shorter corks, its awesome!!! But, they should have made the needle just a little longer, as some longer corks are too long for the needle to penetrate fully. I think that is what James P. is encountering when his corks wouldn't come out. Also, the hole isn't at the end of the needle, its on the side a little from the end. You get about 49mm of usable needle penetration, if your cork is longer than that then its a crapshoot. And finally, they put a stupid plastic shroud around the area where the needle contacts the cork, which sometimes further limits the available penetration range because it contacts the bottle glass around the perimeter of the cork. I ground that off mine with a belt grinder to gain a bit more access. Very poor engineering, without the shroud and 5mm more needle length this would be perfect, but as it is its a compromise that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

Works well on most bottles
Good product & fun to use, but some bottles/corks are just too stubborn and need a more conventional approach. Still glad I got it though.
