Chronicling cocktail culture might very well run in Tara Fougner’s blood. No less an authority than David Wondrich cites her great-grandfather G. Selmer Fougner as being “America’s first drinks writer.” She’s taken that legacy and really run with it, cofounding Thirsty Media. Its centerpiece, Thirsty, bills itself as “a beverage-forward, venue-focused guide on where and what to drink” but is much more, becoming an independent force in the drinks industry giving a platform to many in the industry who have not traditionally had their voices amplified.
