Alcohol beverage laws are among the most byzantine. Luckily, Ryan Malkin has made a career out of helping to untangle the red tape for myriad bars and booze brands. After working as an attorney for Pernod, Malkin was an assistant district attorney in Manhattan, as well as a nightlife journalist. In 2013, he opened Malkin Law. His newest project is an app called Set the Bar, launched in July 2022, designed to allow brands easy-to-understand access to basic marketing and trade practice regulations—a boon for craft distilleries, indie brands, and other start-ups run by entrepreneurs who are constantly tied to their phones.
