Building A More Supportive Sports Bar

In 2018, Jenny Nguyen—a basketball fan and career chef—couldn’t find a bar showing the NCAA women’s basketball final. So, she opened her own bar earlier this year, called The Sports Bra. It’s an all-ages spot that features only women’s sports on its screens—but also food and drinks sourced from women-owned breweries, distilleries, kombucha producers and ranches. In addition to typical sports bar fare, some dishes nod to Nguyen’s Vietnamese heritage, like baby back ribs cooked in a Vietnamese clay pot and caramelized in coconut milk.
