Executive Director, Regenerative Organic Alliance, Sebastopol, CA
Farming in Service of Life
Elizabeth Whitlow spearheaded the Regenerative Organic Certification through the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA). In conjunction with founding partners Patagonia, Dr. Bronner’s and the Rodale Insittute, she’s help set the global standard for what regenerative farming means. In November 2019, Whitlow oversaw the certification pilot program, at which time the organization certified its first winery, Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles, California. In 2020, the ROA opened the doors for general applications and several agricultural businesses—including, but expanding beyond, the viticulture sector—have gone through the certification process.
“I have the privilege to serve,” says Whitlow. “We are pushing our peers to think deeper, dream bigger and innovate harder. We are changing how society collectively eats, shops, and drinks—for the better.”
