Where oak on the Bordeaux blend from this producer seemed green and overpowering, in the Syrah it's better integrated, revealing itself in the form of Christmas spices or cocktail bitters—an orange rind, clove and dried herbal concoction. Generous helpings of currants and cedar are there, too. There's generosity on the palate as well. Silky and approachable, it coats the tongue with juicy berry fruit flavors, gentle tendrils of finely structured tannins falling around them. The spicy nuance carries through to the finish. Drink now–2026. Christina Pickard

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
