This is a powerful, dense and still very young wine despite a bit of bottle age. After some time in the glass, it reveals concentrated red and black berry fruit, dried violet, mint, dusty, scrubby Aussie bush notes and a prominent line of polished mocha oak. The muscular tannins are dominant on the palate, tightly cinching the silky fruit. The acidity is well pitched and the finish long. Give this several more years in the bottle. Drink 2025–2035. Christina Pickard

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
