Winemaker Vivianne Kennedy on Finding Her Footing as a Trans Winemaker

This episode is the third in the series with the Wine Enthusiast Future 40 Tastemakers. This week we’re looking at the challenges of making great wine while being visible in the LGBTQ+ community.

Senior editor, Stacy Briscoe sat down with Vivianne Kennedy, winemaker and proprietor of RAM Cellars, a Portland urban winery. Kennedy founded RAM Cellars in 2014 and then came out as a transgender woman in 2019.

Kennedy discusses how she continues to make wine while focusing on being their authentic self, supporting other marginalized folks in the wine industry, the challenge of sourcing great fruit and finding her footing as a trans winemaker.
