I bought a 20 bottle unit about 6 months go. Since then, a decent amount of ice has accumulated on the back of the fridge; one of the shelves is stuck-frozen to the back. Is it common? what is the best way to defrost the fridge without damaging it?
Yadviga on Aug 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought one of these for my son-in-law for Christmas and so far he has not had the issue you are describing - he stores about 25 bottles (uses the front of the racks) and he seems happy with the product
thermo electric or compressor?

Why has mine started to beep and “EL” keeps flashing on the LED display? I’m not sure what this means and how to correct it. It stops for awhile when I open then close the door but it still keeps happening.
Darci G on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have 2 of these units but neither has had any problems.
what are the venting requirements for this unit ?
kica p on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I've had one for a couple of years but have always had it free-standing, pushed into the corner of a room. It shouldn't be built into a cabinet, but it doesn't seem to need more than six inches or so of space around the sides...
We purchased this wine cooler. Instructions state if we are going to be away for more than 3 weeks we should remove wine and unplug unit. Why is this necessary? What might happen if we don’t.
Lois S on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The 20-Bottle Evolution Series Wine Refrigerator, as with any refrigerator, should be turned off if you are planning to be away for any long period of time as it's a safety issue above anything else. If your power goes off or your breaker trips while you are away, you wont be able to do anything about it until you return home.
I have an armoire with a huge section cut out in the back, which is significantly larger than the dimensions of the fridge, providing multiple inches of free space above & on both sides of where the fridge would go. Can I place the unit inside the armoire, if there's plenty of room for ventilation?
Steph on Nov 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have 2 thermoelectric units in an armoire that I keep the front doors closed. But the armoire has a completely open back and I bought a small Hi-Fi component silent cooling fan that keeps air circulation going. No problems in 2 years.
Where are the fans located? Is it possible to place the unit under cabinet?
jc explorer on Jul 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The fans are located in the back of the unit. This unit is free-standing. It should not be placed under a cabinet.
Will the bin hold 1.5L (magnum) bottles?
Red on Jun 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The bin will be hit or miss some may fit some may not. It will depend on the magnum
I read from customer reviews that the 34-bottle Evolution refrigerator holds 34 bottles based on Bordeaux-sized bottles, and that it holds less if, for example, you're mixing in California bottles. Does the same hold true for the 20-bottle model? Does it hold fewer than 20 if the bottles aren't all Bordeaux?
Ken on May 9, 2014
Yes, the same holds true for the Evolution 20. Bottle capacity is based on standard Bordeaux size bottles.
Can the door be switch from right to left? I don't see that in the specs. Thank you.
Patricia on May 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The evolution series is only hinged on the right so the door opens from left to right.
Does it maintain a specific humidity? Does it maintain the temperature setting when the power goes out? If not, what setting does it default to after a power outage?
Dr. Suz on Mar 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your questions. The Evolution series maintains temperature but it does not maintain humidity. If the power goes out the Evolution 20 will come back on to the factory setting of 55.

what are the interior dimensions of it?
Amanda on Sep 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question, the interior dimensions on the Evolution 20- Bottle refrigerator are the following: 15 d X 14 w X 21.5H. There is a 6" lip in the bottom back of the interior that houses the compressor unit, thus the bottom 6” section is only 9" in depth.

Very nice!
Had the unit a month and so far so good. Does the job well. I especially like that it's an actual compressor based refrigerator and not the thermal type. Seems much more durable. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is that it's still new.

Update to my review
Several reviewers, myself included, have commented that the temperature varies a bit. After thinking about this a bit I came to the conclusion that this cooler is very precise as far as temperature control is concerned. I have mine set to 52 degrees F. If varies from 50 to 53. However, the wine will settle at the AVERAGE temperature due to the thermal mass of the liquid. So, it is keeping my wine at 51.5 degrees for a setting of 52 degrees. In my opinion that is extremely accurate.

Nice so far but only had 3 weeks.
We use this cooler in our kitchen undercounter. Have only had the refrigerator for 3 weeks so too early to know how it will last. Love the front display of temperator & the ease of adjustment for temperature on door. Also has an interior light which is nice & adds class!

Nice Wine Refrigerator
I have only had this wine refrigerator a few days, but I already like it. It is attractive, simple and holds quite a bit of wine. Like others have said, it would be nice if the shelves could be spaced an inch or so further apart, but that is not a big deal. The temperature varies a couple degrees, but I don't consider that a big deal either. It emit a hum that some might find annoying, but I don't have it in a living space, so I never hear it. The one disappointment I have is that I thought the bottom part was a pull out basket and it is not. The bottles just sit on the bottom of the refrigerator. There is a wire piece in front that keeps them from rolling out. It's a bit difficult to put bottles in there. All in all this is a good buy, and it is a real compressor-based refrigerator.

As expected
I purchased this wine refrigerator after a lot of research and so far so good. I decided to opt for one with a real compressor because I live in Phoenix and I think the ambient temperatures are too high for thermal-electric cooling (we keep our house at 85 when away and/or at work, and 76-78 with AC running). It does make some noise and it is definitely louder than our kitchen refrigerator. We keep ours in the family room, so with the TV and commotion normally occurring it's not as noticeable. But in a silent room you will hear the compressor. Capacity-wise, I think you'd be hard pressed to fit 20 bottles in as advertised. It doesn't fit short squat bottles well (like pinot noir) compared to the standard cabernet shaped bottle, so just be aware of that point if that's mainly what you plan to store.

Fridge needs more foot adjustment
Attractive design and easy to use. Very quiet. However, I have 2 complaints. On the bottom of the unit there are 2 adjustable feet. The foot on the main body has a lot of adjustment. The foot that is on the door has 3 or less turns before it falls out, making it almost unusable as an adjustable foot. Secondly, I have set the temperature for wine at 58 degrees, and the temperature reads 53 degrees - too cold for red wine.

New compressor fridge
Storing only aged reds... Set at 55 and expected a stable temperature at 55... Temp fluctuates from 52--58, a 6 degree range constantly.. Called tech support and they said this is normal for a compressor cooling air... Liquids should be stable... I guess this is true so looks and works fine.
