We have had this fridge for almost a year, It worked fine until recently. The temperature on one side then both sides would get down to the 55 degree setting. The unit also seemed louder too.

Then we discovered the dust screens covering the four fans in the back were coated with dust. A quick vacuuming got ours back to the right temperature and quiet again.

A second maintenance chore is to occasionally dump the water from the tray at the back of the inside of the unit. To do this you must remove the wine from the bottom two shelves. In discovered this when water appeared in the bottom of the unit.

About the quietness, we find ours completely acceptable. It's not silent, but it is in our family room in a raised cabinet that used to hold a TV (we have a flat screen on another wall now). I sit next to it most of the time and don’t notice the sound.

On the negative side, the thermostat hangs down from the top and severely limits the size of bottles the shelf can hold. We use it for half bottles and narrow full size bottle that we can squeeze in after pulling the shelf out to insert the bottle.

Many bottles we buy just barely fit in the shelves. Sometimes the labels get scraped and its tough to slide the shelves in and out. This is true of all the shelves except the very bottom or floor of the unit which has plenty of space.

I've tried to get happy with this refrigerator over several months, but I just can't get past it. The shelves are too close together on this unit. Bottles of cab and sauv blanc fit fine, but forget about the typical-sized chard and pinot bottles. When sliding the shelves in and out, the bottles rub on the shelf above and the labels get scraped. The metal shelves are cheap and the welds don't all hold together well. You would think that with "one side holds whites and one side holds reds," that the unit would be made to fit typical chard bottles. You would be wrong, my friend. Given the cost of the refrigerator and shipping, this unit absolutely sucks. I am disappointed with my purchase and I will not purchase from the Wine Enthusiast again. When my friends ask how I like the refrig, I say "No way, Jose."

I would much prefer the same size cooler with shelves spaced so that they would slide easily without the bottles being jammed together so tightly. I realize that the cooler would not be able to be called a 48-bottle capacity if, perhaps two shelves were eliminated, but I challenge anyone to fit 48 bottles as the shelves are currently arranged.

Comments about Wine Enthusiast Silent Wine Refrigerators Wine Enthusiast Silent 48 Bottle Double Door Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator (Stainless Steel Trim Door):

The documentation that comes with the unit should be edited for English. It also doesn't mention in the instructions that the door handles need to be screwed on nor that the water catcher needs to be emptied periodically. I have found that I need to empty water out nearly every day in a room that meets the temperature range for the device and has a low humidity. In order to do this you have to pull out a shelf and the bottles that are on it. It is not a fun task. If you don't do this the water container overflows and water leaks out of the unit onto the floor.

In addition the shelves are too close together to fit most standard size bottles, so the true capacity is much less than 48. Also, the temperature panel is too large and restricts use of the top shelves resulting in a loss of 6 bottles.

With a little more attention to design detail this would be a nice unit.

    Major Design Flaw

Comments about Wine Enthusiast Silent Wine Refrigerators Wine Enthusiast Silent 48 Bottle Double Door Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator (Stainless Steel Trim Door):

Major design flaw that prevents this from being a good purchase and it should be declared as part of the description. The height b/w each shelf is only just big enough to fit your normal cab bottle. Syrah and Pinot bottles that tend to be wider do not fit in between each shelf. The result becomes you have to remove one of the shelves so you can fit 3 pinot bottles, effectively reducing the bottle per row in half. The temp read-out at inside of the top row behind the doors, removes the space for one bottle as well, which reduces the bottle count by two.
Net, net, this is not a 48 bottle count fridge, more like a max of 40.

I bought two of these units. Neither is as quiet as advertised. When they are full the fan never goes off. If they were not in closets behind closed doors, I would have returned them. The only time they are "silent" as advertised is when they are only half full. Think twice before buying.

Comments about Wine Enthusiast Silent Wine Refrigerators Wine Enthusiast Silent 48 Bottle Double Door Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator (Stainless Steel Trim Door):

The reviews I read prior to purchase were spot on. This product is quiet, accurate and holds a good amount of wine for a casual taster or aspiring enthusiast. It is great for an apartment or smaller house/space. The problems are: 1) the shelves are cheap and the brackets that hold the shelves in place break off if you are not careful (one broke off the first time I pulled a shelf out!); 2) there is barely any space between shelves so if you don't have standard chardonnay/cab bottles you have to skip a shelf to make them fit (pinots etc); 3) because the shelves are so close together, when you pull out a bottle, the shelf above scrapes across the bottle and pulls part of the label off. So you have to move the shelf above to get a bottle out. These are not as major as noise, accuracy/consistency of temp or overall design but are considerations. Overall I think it's a good deal for the $$.

Don't buy this refrigerator. I had one side quit working in less than a year, so after fighting for 2 and 1/2 months I was sent a replacement. Did everything according to instructions and plugged it in and only had one side that would cool. Do not have any faith in this product.

Pros: very attractive, very quiet, holds temperature accurately.

Cons: shelves very tightly spaced, will not hold anything slightly wider or longer than standard 750 ml without removing shelves. Temperature control plate hangs in front of top shelf making it very difficult to get bottles in there.
