Can this unit be pushed against the wall in an open room?
Jodi on Feb 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This is not a front vented unit and needs approx 4" all around the sides, front, back & top.
So you do not want to push up against a wall you want to leave at least 4" behind it so the warm air can get out from behind it.
Can a smaller refrigerator be placed on top of this unit if you have a 4 inch clearance on the back and sides?
Alex Z on Nov 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hello Alex, not certain to be competent enough to provide a definte answer to your question.
The most importabt aspect is the weight of the fridge that you intend to mount on top, and obviously should be directed to the manuafacturer,
In addition you should be aware of the two (2) top mounted doorhinges on the fronting side and no such installation in the back, which would result in a slanted set-up towards the back.
I have my unit on a set of appliance casters, so that it can easily be pulled away from the wall it stands in front of.
This permits an easy cleaning access to the ventilation fan covers I deem most important and perform every 8-12 months. Should this be important to you aswell, your cleaning procedure might become a tad more hazardous. Installation of a set of strong Wall brackets might be a consideration..
Good luck and cheers!

What are the optimal temperature settings (e.g. what temperature for red and what temperature for white wines?)
robgman on Sep 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have this same equipment. All wine, white or red, should be stored at 55 degrees F. Serving temperatures is a different matter. Red wine whould be served no warmer than 66 degrees (cooler for chianti, rioja, beaujolais and pinot noir). White wine should be served from 48 to 52.
Does it fit Pinot Noir bottles?
bfcm76 on Aug 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It can accommodate all shapes of bottles: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Alsace. You just have to figure out how best to organize your wine bottles to maximize the size and available space of the wine fridge. We have champagne bottles and Burgundy bottles on the bottom, where the section is slightly larger, as well as on the top shelf (stacked). The middle shelves are a tighter squeeze for the wider pinot noir shaped bottles, but you just have to make sure the bottle is aligned so that the label does not get scraped. We are quite happy with the wine fridge.
What is the expected life for a wine refrigeration unit like this one?
Ben S on Feb 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have no idea. We have had these over a year and they are doing great! I would think the lifespan would be pretty much the same as a refrigerator. So far I have to say they are doing a great job!
Does anyone have any experience using the extended service plan?
Dave B on Jan 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Good day Dave B.
[if you actually exist],

Have not bought one for this product. Still am under original warranty and already most unhappy: although billed as a DUAL TEMPERATURE product, it only maintains equal temperature in both compartments. This happens to be the median, between both temps programmed as desired ones.
On the subject of extended warranties: my life's experience is: they generally are NOT worth what they are purported to be and most often a pain in the You know where, when trying to make a claim.
Cheers.
What does the back of the unit look like?
Diane S on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The back is flat and enclosed with a screen filter to protect the motor. I took a picture but have no way to send it. If you want to give me your email address I will be happy to forward you the picture. Although this cooler is not meant to be built in I did build a cabinet around it, leaving the back and bottom wide open for ventilation. Although the back is flat with no coils showing you still need a few inches for the unit to ventilate. Hope this helps!
can the cooler be laid flat to bring home from the retailer?
Glenn C on Aug 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi, yes but just like any refrigerator in that once home you would have to stand it up for 24 hours before plugging it in.
Do you have parts for intertek wine cooler model number 272480251?
Denise A on Dec 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Please call our Technical Support department at 800.356.8466 and they can assist you with this. Thank you.
Can I purchase two extra shelves for this wine refriderator?
Douglas W on Mar 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Mr Douglas;
Beats me!
Frankly I [as a customer] don't have the foggiest of notions whether that might be possible since I have absolutely no knowledge the company's inventories nor capabilities.
In my humble view though, two of the shelves, those directly under the units supposedly maintaining the desired temperature in each segment, are of little value due to the crammed space there, as you might have already discovered yourself.
Remove those if you intend to utilize them elsewhere.
If you have broken two, they should either be easily repairable or may be replaced by those mentioned above.
Cheers,
Ingo P
I'm seeing conflicting responses between customer reviews and staff responses. Can you please clarify on this unit's ability to house zinfandel or riesling bottles. And does the same apply for the smoke trim as the stainless steel trim units? Thank you
Joy on Jun 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This unit can hold both Riesling and Zinfandel bottles. Capacity may change based on the size of the bottle as the 48 bottle configuration is for bordeaux shaped bottles.
What is the height of equipment minus the top hinge?
The "Dr." on Jan 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes they do. Each door has a seperate lock.
Do the doors lock?
Alexis on Dec 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes the stainless trim doors do have a lock.
Where exactly in a room would you place this product if it requires 4' of clearance around it and it isn't built for under cabinet use? The question of backing the unit up to a wall was not adequately answered in a previous Q&A. I would like to reiterate it. Can this product be place along a wall if adequate area around it is allowed for venting?
Rachael on Jun 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This unit is back and side venting which means it cannot be placed along a wall without being off the wall appx 4 inches and having the correct amount of clearance on the sides. If you do not leave the required amount of space then the heat will go back into the unit and it will never cool properly. We do sell units that are front venting where you can leave off the wall 1 inch.
Is the refrigerator deep enough to house slightly taller bottles, like Riesling bottles?
wiggiebear on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 48 bottle can handle Riesling bottles.
What are the internal dimensions of each cabinet in this unit?
Daniel on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Silent 48 bottle wine cellars interior measures: 27.25" H x 10" W x 11.5" D.
I plan on keeping the wine fridge in the garage where ambient temperature could range anywhere from 50 to 90 F. How would this potentially affect the performance of the unit?
Matt on Apr 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This unit should not be in a room where the temperatures go below 65 degrees and above 80 degrees. If it does this unit will never cool properly and wont keep temperature. This is not recommended for a garage application.
what is the depth without the handles
worker bee on Mar 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This unit is approximately 20.75 inches deep with out the handles.
How many watts does this use and what is its estimated annual energy consumption in kwh? How does this "silent" fridge compare to the 80 bottle evolution series in terms of noise, quality, etc. Thank you.
ss on Dec 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The 48 bottle thermoelectric unit uses 180 watts and 750 KWH per year. There are 4 fans in this unit and there will be fan sounds. The 80 bottle is a compressor based unit that will use 1/2 the electricity and will also provide a superior performance in the long term. This unit runs at approximately 39 decibels.
Can you explain exactly how the warranty works? I have been burned by Home Depot with their Visanni coolers. I had to dump some wine and replace the coolers. I want to make sure your product will meet my expectations and that I will be protected in the event it does not.
Mel on Nov 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Wine Enthusiast holds the warranty and it is a repair or replace. One is able to purchase extended warranty from Wine Enthusiast which increases the plan to a 2 year date of purchase. Again, nothing is subbed out as Wine Enthusiast holds the contract.
How far do you have to open the doors to pull out the shelves? If you assume closed is 90 degrees, do you open 180 degrees or 270 degrees?
Mike on Nov 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: If the door closed is zero degrees , the door must open to 90 degrees so you can pull out a shelf.
What is the height of the unit without the bottom legs?

Poor everything
I am very disappointed in this purchase. I have a similar thermo-electric unit that is the same size and design that works perfectly and quiet as can be. We decided to get another cooler to cellar wine for extended periods. There is nothing silent about this unit. When we plugged it in, I could hear it running downstairs. I could never reach technical support after being on hold for a very long time and customer service said that the noise was "normal." Fortunately it is quieter semi-filled with wine bottles, but still too loud to ignore. The racks are small and flimsy and you have to open the doors extra far so the racks don't hit the door insulation. I thought that Wine Enthusiast would provide a better product and service. Highly unhappy customer.

Stopped Cooling
Received this as a replacement for a larger unit that failed and was discontinued. They blamed that failure on a poorly designed circuit board. Unfortunately, a few months ago this unit failed as well. The right side doesn't cool anymore and the left side only gets down to 58 degrees. Either I'm very unlucky, or they have serious problems with the quality of their products.

Not really what it was advertised to be
Delivery was a most horrible experience.
Design, silent operation and efficiency of the unit are excellent. Very happy in that department.
Unfortunately though the shelves will not accommodate Rhone, classic Burgundy or Alsace/German style bottles, which a either too long or too wide in the midriff.
Compliments on the very excellent packaging and ease of installation when reading the enclosed guidelines first and following them to the T.

New Way to Select the Perfect Wine
Since purchasing the Silent 48 bottle Double Door Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator, wine selection has taken on a whole new dimension. Instead of buying wines that we love to drink, we now buy bottles that meet the narrow size requirement necessary fit into these shelves. Bye, bye lovely Pinots, Champagnes, many Chardonnays - you simply don't fit no matter what I do. And the very top shelves are limited by the temperature panel so only very slender dessert wines fit there - if you don't drink those, drop your bottle count to 42. Aside from that, temperature control is good, it's great to have the two completely separate zones to keep different temperatures, and it looks pretty good (the stainless steel is more difficult to keep free of smudges that other appliances I own). Wish I had given more weight to the other reviews saying exactly the same things.

Very satisfied
I have had this cooler for 12 months. It is silent, I can never hear it running. It has kept the temperature constent. I can definetly recommend this unit.
September 25, 2015
All good so far
The cons:
-shelves are flimsy as others have mentioned
-it really doesn't fit 48. It's really 42 unless you have smaller dessert wine bottles as someone else mentioned. like a lot of these fridges, you might not be able to fit some larger 750ml bottles, e.g., chateauneuf du pape, but that's to be expected from this kind of unit

The pros:
-looks great
-you can make it work for you. I took out some shelves and have six magnums on one side
-dual zone
-cool LED blue lights if you're in the mood

Bought the unit about 4 months ago. Assuming the fans keep going for us, this will have been a great purchase.

Great wine fridge, expensive from Wine Enthusiast
48 bottle capacity is only true with certain red wines, but I knew that from reviews ahead of time. much quieter that my old one. working well for the 1month I've had it so far.
