I took a chance on this unit even though some reviews were negative. I spoke to a Customer Service agent about the negative reviews before I ordered it. He assured me that I would not have a problem if I set it up according to the directions - put at least 2 inches between the unit and the wall and do not keep it in direct sunlight.

So far the unit works well - it is really silent and holds the temperature. I do not notice when it runs and the agent was right - if the room where it is housed is average room temperature, the unit does not need to run often.

It holds standard sized wine bottles. That is what I have in the unit but the bottles still do not fit perfectly in the shelves together when it is full. If I pull out a shelf to look at the bottles, the next shelf usually starts to come out with it. I do not find this to be problematic but I have to be careful when moving the bottles/shelves.

I would recommend this unit to a friend and think it is a good value.

I purchased my 12 bottle wine refrigerator in December, 2007. It was very quiet (couldn't hear it at all), but within a few short months it began to make noise. I called the company and they said the pewter color was no longer available and they sent me a black one with stainless steel door. Not what I wanted. The other one went well with my decor. The new one seems to be less stylist than the first. Am a little disappointed that bottles sometimes have to be shoved in to fit as shelves are close together. It does, however, keep a constant temperature.

I was very disappointed that the unit will not hold some of the even moderately tall bottles of wine. I will be giving the unit away at our next church raffle. I am looking for a larger unit.

Comments about Wine Enthusiast Silent 12 Bottle Wine Refrigerator (Stainless Steel Trim Door):

The reason I bought this wine cooler is that it is one that would actually fit in my kitchen underneath the cabinets. However it is just about an inch to small in height and it is difficult to insert bottles. Because of the small height it looks kind of out of place- but the stainless steel looks very nice. Somewhat quiet operation- you can hear a slight hum. Seems to be holding temperature well- I have had two other wine coolers (other brands) that have died within a year so I hope this one lasts as I have some expensive wines in there- I went ahead and bought the protection plan. Very good price.

This is great until you buy bottle sizes other than Bordeau - see the fine print. With the rounder bottles the cooler will only take 9 bottles. I see they have added an explanation which wasn't there when I purchased one.

I had to buy this 12 bottle fridge because the 6 bottle one I bought last year broke after about 8 months; the cooling unit kept it at 54 degrees and wouldn't adjust to any other setting.
