I'm looking for tags that do not get limp when wet, and can be written on with a Sharpie. None of the ones described here sound like that type, altho I have purchased this type before.

BEST ANSWER: Perhaps the reusable wine bottle tags would be more suitable. Writing can be erased and the tags can be used again and again, they are item # 571 22 01
do these tags have slot-cuts leading to the hole? I have bought these from you in the past and they have those cuts.

BEST ANSWER: Wine Enthusiast White Paper Wine Bottle Tags are packaged 100 per box.
What size is the round opening? Most are 1.5" and for many of todays bottles that is not quite large enough. Need more like 1.75" to fit some of the slighly larger opeinigns+the covering

Do any of the wine bottle labels have a larger opening?
Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Our labels are perforated. The initial hole is 1 inch and with the perforations you can fit it on a neck up to 1.75". If you have any other questions, please call us at 1-800-356-8466.

How to NOT imporve on a simple product
This tag sounds like a good idea but is really very dumb idea. The "traditional" tag is frequently too small for thick glass bottles and certainly too small for larger format. So they sort of cut fins and made the tag expandible. Except in doing so the tag now does not hang from the neck, it sort of contorts and frequently the written part of the tag is bent. Dumb.

Best Buy
These are the best, inexpensive tags we have found. They fit a wide variety of bottle necks, and do not tear easily.

Great Value
These are the most economical, sturdy cardboard wine neck labels available. They fit most every bottle size, and the paper accepts various inks with clarity. They help us keep track of our inventory, and provide enough space for all the pertinent information.

Great Product
These tags are perfect for my small (500-600) cellar. When I use a Sharpie, I can fit all the information I need on them and the ink doesn't run or smudge. I keep them after the bottle is empty (kind of like dog tags) and sometimes put notes on the other side (date drunk, food, company, etc.) for later entry into my tracking database. For those who don't like the placement of the WE logo, I agree and simply use the other side, where I can put the vintage at the top. I've tried the reusable kind and if I use a Sharpie to mark them, the ink doesn't come off completely and they're not really reusable. If I use something less permanent, it often fades or smudges and isn't usable.

Universal bottle tags
We have used paper bottle tags in the past which had to be cut out to accomodate large neck or champagne bottles. Plastic tags are more durable and can be re-used, but are impossible unless they are made for the large diameter bottle neck. They can't be cut well.
These tags are great because they have a central "gear tooth" aperture which will grab a normal sized neck, and easily can be pulled down over the big diameter or champagne neck. These are the only bottle tags that I will buy.

My wine cellar won't be without these!
I tend to write more and more info on these besides date and type of wine: date purchased, price and when to drink it by

Good tags at a good price
I prefer paper tags to the coated tags that are supposedly re-usable. Wine Enthusiast logo at the top of the tag occupies space I normally use for the vintage information.

A step down from the Re-useable tags
Will do the job, but better value for your money are the re-usable tags
