I had read the reviews before buying and was concerned abt. commments that they are hard to erect and about limitation on bottle size, but the comments did not have details. I bought 6 for use on one side of a new cellar, and I would then decide after erecting them if could use more. I now will buy three more, but not 6. I am making my own racks to hold larger wine bottles.

1. This rack holds 3.25" inch bottles side-by-side with no difficulty. Bordeaux/Cab bottles are 3.00. Most Pinot and Syrah bottles are 3.00 or 3.25, and also fit nicely. Many newer "better" Pinots and Syrahs, however, are larger (some up to 3.5") and they will not fit unless you alternate them side-by-side with 3.00" bottles. (Turley will not fit at all, unless you leave every other slot empty.)

2. I was pleasantly surprised to find that when erecting 2 racks side-by-side, you make double use of the middle upright. Thus, one rack is 35" wide, but 2 racks are only 67" wide, and each additional rack adds only another 32". I wish this info had been in catalogue and/or website so I knew it before I bought my racks; I would have laid out my cellar much differently.

3. Many people commented that the racks were hard to assemble. Getting the first (bottom) shelf bolted into four loose uprights was awkward and using two people would have helped. After that, however, it was pretty easy. (Trick: Do not tighten the grommets very much until all horizontal racks are in, then go back, check for plmb and tighten them. Also, instructions suggest waiting a week and then tightening them again. Good idea. Several needed a full turn or so to be tight again.)

4. Mine are very sturdy because I left off the back cross-brace supports and bolted the tops into studs with lag bolts. Cannot speak to free-standing application.

5. Person at WE told me that they could be used as double depth racks. They COULD, but I would not recommend it. The grommets stick out a little in front of the uprights, and thus you cannot get the front upright of the back rack and the back upright of the front rack flush -- so they would not secured together without a lot of work and they would not look well.

This wine rack is clearly one of the best deals I've come across. I am extremely pleased with it, so much so, I am ordering 4 more. If additional support is desired, it is helpful to apply brackets from the back of the unit to a wall stud, (discreetly.)

I have joined 3 units together. This makes them very sturdy and yet easy to move into place.

I now have 10 Swedish Wine Racks in my wine cellar. On 2 different walls I have combined 4 racks together to create a wall storage space. These units are made more stable by screwing brackets from the rack to the wall. Applied discreetly, one can't see the brackets when the rack is being used.

The wood from Indonesia does not look like pine. It is seems harder, is knot free and well cut. The grommets that hold the shelf supports are chromed. The rack looks better than the on-line picture. Assembly took an hour and a half without assistance.

We install this wine rack in our extra bedroom closet. It looks good and does not take up much room. We have labeled the wine and I do not have trouble finding what I want when I want it.

Product is good - shipping and service were tough for us.

We purchased 8 units weighing ~500 pounds total in mahogany, and arrived on 2 pallets. For a residence, this was tough for us to move around but the delivery person was kind enough to put the pallets in our garage. Took us about 4+ hours to assemble - I don't think 1 person could do it on their own. Unfortunately we ended up realizing a box was missing, which contained 8 shelves. Customer service was closed for a holiday, and so we got the final box delivered to us about a week later.
I would recommend the racks themselves, but be sure you can handle the quantity that you purchase in terms of delivery and assembly.

To see the real value of this great product just compare the actual cost of the materials required to build this yourself and then think of the time required to do so and you will easily see this is a steal even if you have all the tools in your shop!
Solid construction, attractive, easily expandable!
Honestly need two people to get the setup started, otherwise very easy assembly.

This was easy to assemble and had my husband read the directions first, it would have taken him about 30 minutes to assemble instead of the 2 hours he wasted by not reading the directions! Also, we found that it is a very tight fit for Burgundy bottles and had to lay them in opposite directions in order to have them lay side by side.
