Can assemble in many designs to fit your needs.
This is a decent rack. Assemply can be time consuming but with an OPEN bottle of wine it passes by OK. I used wood glue to ensure a sturdy build which takes longer. It requires some attention to make sure the connector dowels are sitting properly and hte rack is square/straight and not crooked. The rack is great for building storage around an odd space where a traditional rectangle or square won't fit.
Put the assembly inside a cabinet. Assembly itself was somewhat difficult and resulted in some splitting of the horizontal bars. Finish needs to allow a little more gap in the holes for insertion of the rods.
Very difficult to assemble. Poor manufactured quality. Sent it back and chose something different.
Works well, if you are patient in assembly. Some pegs are too tight, others too loose. Holes are not all the same depth making for some uneveness when constructing several rows. Wood glue is required or the structure will be too flimsey.
This wine rack provides the capability to tailor the rack to the space available -- so if you have a somewhat unusual space, this is a good choice. The rack does require assembly and that can be a bit of a challenge, but the product once assembled works well.
The wine rack works well, but will not hold 1.5ml bottles which is a negative. The natural finish unit was literaly just raw wood that handn't even been finished well as in sanded or anything like that. The unit when assembled gave a lack of confidence that it wouldn't pull apart at the sides without using glue.
I used this rack to replace a bin-style rack in the lower portion of a cabinet. I hated having to unrack an entire portion of the bin to see what wines were in it. Having each bottle in its own space is MUCH more convenient. Lost some storage, but it is worth it.
Since the wine rack came unassembled, I was able to build it to the exact messurment of an open area in my bar. FITS PERFECT!!
This is an attractive, sturdy way to store a lot of wine bottles in a small space.
This was an easy product to put together...my 12 year old boys and I put 2 together in a couple hours at a relaxed pace. Some of the dowels (two) were tapered and could not be used, but there were plenty of extras.
I was a little concerned about the sturdiness of end rows (I built pyramids...well, more like ziggurats I guess). But after being in place two weeks, they are holding up very well.
I do have a couple slim bottles that are too narrow. But since it is 2 or 3 out of hundreds, it does not bother me.
We bought a similar wine racking system at [...] last year and we liked it so much we decided to expand it. Shopping online, I ran across (what I thought was) the same product at the same price at Wine Enthusiast. Unfortunately, when we received the Wine Enthusiast version last month, it CLEARLY wasn't the same quality. We had to glue each peg to fit each hole and the wood was sub-standard. [...]
It takes a while to assemble, but we had a very odd shaped opening that I was able to custom fit this into, so that was great.
Rack is like an erector set I had when I was a kid. Only that stayed together, fit together properly, and did what it was supposed to. This( and I bought 4 of them) was a total waste and I'll use it for kindling.
Out of all the components, only one was improperly drilled. This was replaced. In my opinion the product is attractive, easy to assemble and sturdy. I'd buy another and recommend it very highly.
This is a very flexible and sturdy product that fit into any shape or space. i plan on using it on the inside of another cabinet, so flexibility and the modular design was important.
Some drawbacks:
1) it is not particularly attractive (i purchased the unfinished version, but it is also available finished. However more important is just that it is a rather utilitarian design.)
2) Fairly laborious to assemble, being comprised of multiple multiple little dowels that you have to join together and then mallet in place. Very low tech. I would say it took about half a day to do the 40 bottle rack. From a design standpoint, i think they could have come up with something more clever/easy to assemble.
i would recommend this product if you plan on using it inside another cabinet and or you need to fit it into a certain space.
i would not recommend this product for large collections because of the tediousness of assembly. i probably would not use this product free standing or in high profile, decorative situations.
I am just starting my wine collection, so this was just the right starter rack. I now have put together 4 of them and am going to be purchasing different kinds to fit the collection as it grows.
The pegs kept slipping out of the holes. Even glue would not keep them in. Tried pounding them in with a rubber mallet, but that did not work. Perhaps it was the finish? We took it apart and gave it to some kids to play with.
As my collection grows these sturdy units grow with it.
