Great Trivet Set, Arrange the Corks Firs

Attractive Design, Easy to Use
Best Uses:
Home Bar
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I had read mixed reviews on this but am pleased with it. You need to first place your corks to find the best arrangement and fit. I started with the arrangement shown on the box and it didn't fit well. So I used an alternative concept and it came out great. The sandpaper included is useful for rubbing down small pieces of cork - don't expect it to do more. Only took me about an hour to do from opening the box to having all of the corks glued in.

Best Uses:
Dinner table, Home Bar

These are great products, the trivets as well as the boards. It has become a hobby for me and my husband; he designs and I glue. We started giving the trivets away as gifts; made a corkboard for our office and a corkboard for our niece in college. We are ready to complete two more trivets and will do our first server.
GREAT IDEA for corks.

wine cork trivet
By MichelleVerified Purchaser from Chandler, AZ on 3/18/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy to Use
Cons:
Corks set-in too deep, Trivet is too deeply set
Best Uses:
Home Bar
Describe Yourself:
Practical, Stylish
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Trivet is very nice. Looks good. Would only make one change to it and that is to not have it so deep. The corks set too deep inside the trivet so if you set a hot pan on the trivet it will likely rest on the wood frame (not the corks) and therefore will burn the frame.

I bought them to give to neighbors and friends next holiday season. Some I will just give corks to and others I will assemble for them-that is to guarantee they will have a finished product. My husband gave me the tray for Christmas and I just love it and receive many compliments. Of course, we may need some level of rehab after we supply all of the necessary corks.

It's hard to find a trivet to put a hot pan on that does not crack, break or melt. This fit the bill.

I wish it was made in cherry for my daughter. She purchased 2 somewhere else and they are not as deep or fit the corks as well. Yours is the best I have seen.

Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable
Cons:
CorksNeed glue to stay in
Best Uses:

You may want to replace the supplied glue with one that drys clear as I ruined a trivet by using your supplied glue and the glue dried white and the trivet looks like "hell". I would recommend but only if they use their own glue that dries clear.

I bought 4 of these. It takes about 40 corks to fill it up and the dimensions aren't exact so you have to fuss with it a little to get the right fit but once it is done it looks great. They look great on the wall. I have 2 and I am giving 2 to my daughter for Christmas.

It is really a great gift.

Not what expected
By JVerified Purchaser from Illinois on 10/26/2007
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bought this product to display the wine corks we picked up on our wine tours. Most of the wine corks are pretty close in size, yet when you fill them in there is always a 1/4" or more space that you have to cut another cork to fill in.
Thought it could be designed or sized better.
