No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Everything looks wonderful to begin however when you move the case around the inside divider moves up and down and the bottom of the stems can touch each other. Several glasses have been broken because of this.

I will make these work by cutting out a dozen pieces of foam to put in the bottom of each space. This hopefully will keep the glasses off the floor of the case inside each individual glass's own space. I'm sure it will work but it is a PIA to have to do this. I'm afraid the big Riedel Somms will not fit if I do this but quite frankly I don't think the case is "sturdy" enough to really protect any of the Somm glasses.

I use these cases to transport my Riedel stems to wine tasting events that I host in other peoples' homes. My glasses arrive safely every time! One drawback is that they don't fit well into smaller cupboards.

The great thing about this product is that it can be used in any location in your home. Most kitchens are short of space for anything beyond every day glasses. These quilted stemware storage cases are built to go almost anywhere in your house. We have ours within easy reach on a closet shelf. The cases keep your stemware dust-free and protected from moisture until you are ready to use them.

My stemware is safe from chips.

It is very well padded to protect the stemware. Others I have had in the past were only divided by cardboard sheets between the glasses, this gives very good protection. I wish I could find something of this standard for my fine china.

If you are like most wine lovers you have plenty of extra crystal for the occassional party but may not have a safe place to store it. This is the solution

We are able to store our Reidel wine glasses so they are ready to use. We have also kept the outer plastic case for storage as our cellar is extremely dusty (old house) and they help keep the lovely cases extra clean. We liked them so much we purchased some for a gift and the recipient was extremely pleased.
