Great improvement on original models!
By tonkmomVerified Purchaser from Herndon, VA on 5/11/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Easy to use, Works with plastic corks
Cons:
Heavy
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've broken several of the original models in several different ways, and this model seems like it will be much more durable. The biggest improvement is that it works great with plastic corks - a problem for earlier versions. It's a bit heavy, but that's an acceptable trade-off for easier and more versatile operation.

My wife enjoys using the Rabbit Corkscrew; I only need to suggest a new bottle and off she goes bringing back a freshly opened bottle. This is super; should have had it thousands of twists and turns ago. Not only does it remove corks it quickly and easily decorks the corkscrew. Synthetic corks are no problem.

I had a hard time finding this product but there it was on the Wine Enthusiast website. It works like a charm but has taken a little time to get used to the technique. Some corks are a bit harder to extract than others. I love pushing the cork off with just a squeeze.

High quality die cast metal alloys. Quick and easy to use. Almost makes it automatic from removing cork from bottle to removing the cork from corkscrew mechanism.

Useless on the New Plastic Corks!
By BernaVerified Purchaser from Ellicott City, MD on 2/12/2008
Pros:
Durable Materials, Easy to Use, Ergonomic Grip, Good for traditional cork, Quick
Cons:
Won't grip plastic cork
Best Uses:
Wine Bottles
Describe Yourself:
Frequent Entertainer, Practical, Stylish, Want quality
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

It's well made but does not come with a base to store it on. The twistwire slides right through the new plastic corks so it is useless for all the wines that now have them.

The lever action is wonderful because I do not have the strength to simply pull a cork out of a wine bottle.

Avoid these corkscrews!
By jim from New Orleans on 1/24/2008
Cons:
Not durable
Describe Yourself:
Frequent Entertainer, Practical
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I unhappily own a rabbit. It was easy to use until the mechanism came apart. And, since it happened more than a year (but less than 2) from the time I originally bought the product, per Metrokane, too bad for me. Considering the expense of their corkscrew, I find Metrokane's lack of support surprising. I highly recommend buying another brand or assume your rabbit is a throw away at the end of the year.
