Works as described, except for the filter. The small screen that came with this funnel originally intended to act as a filter came out on the first use. So, if your primary use for a funnel like this is for filtering, this would not be a good choice. However, for aerating the wine and for classy display and elegant presentation ambiance, this funnel fits the bill.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I would never have paid this price for this funnel if it hadn't claimed to be "French Pewter." It's actually made it Portugal, which isn't awful. However this pewter is not nearly as heavy, nor does it have nice patina of real French pewter. If this hadn't been a Christmas gift, I would have definitely returned it.

As a funnel however, it works fine and the built in strainer is handy.
