No, I would not recommend this to a friend
the aerating funnel is useful, efficent, and almost fun to use.
on the other hand, though the decanter is billed as "european crystal", and has the price tag to match, it really doesn't come off as particularly better than a glass carafe of similare size & shape.
In retrospect I should have simply purchased the funnel separately (it is available on the site that way) and stuck it in some of the nice carafes we already own. would have saved enough to buy a few additional nice bottles of wine to decant!

[...] Husband loves the ease of cleaning while still looking sturdy and classic. We have broken multiple decanters because of thinness at the top (chips, cracks) and this one is holding up well.
