When using the wine aerating funnel, we've found that holding the funnel and allowing a bit of air to flow around the top of the decanter enables a smoother effect of the wine into the decanter.

We've given several of these as gifts to our wine-enjoying friends.

This product is not worth purchasing. A decanter will thoroughly fulfill the function of aerating the wine. The holes are too small and there are not enough of them to permit anything but the most careful pouring efforts. The screen is not needed.
