Riedel's best deal ever. Pay for 6, but get 8. Riedel Vinum Wine Glasses make every drop of wine taste its best. Riedel revolutionized glassware by customizing the shape of wine glasses to a particular type of wine. Each wine glass is fine-tuned to direct the flow of the wine onto parts of the palate that will best express the flavors and aromas of a specific wine varietal. The fine crystal offers superb clarity so you can experience the wine's color and texture.See More Product Details
Is the Riedel Vinum Bordeaux glass featured in an 8 -for-the-price-of- 6 box exactly the same as the Riedel Vinum Bordeaux you sell for $49.95 a pair? The price for the boxed set is so much lower. I am interested in ordering glasses for a wedding gift, and the bride and groom's registry featured Riedel Vinum at a strictly retail price of 2 for $59. Thanks for your reply.

BEST ANSWER:Yes the Riedel Vinum Bordeaux bonus pack is the same as the Riedel Vinum 2-pack item
We use Riedel glasses every day. The proper glass really does make your wine taste better. We have 7 different styles now and will buy more as they come on sale. We can't afford them otherwise. They are very delicate, but so worth the trouble. If you love wine, try these glasses!
The Riedel glasses are great. Bought these as a gift but was dismayed to find "Pay 6, get 8" plastered all over the box. Embarassing to give a box with that all over, fortunately the recipients were good friends and appreciate a bargain. Get rid of the chessy "pay 6, get 8" or put it on a removable label. Even if I kept it for my own, I would not want that splashed all over the place.
We have many Riedel wine glasses and these glasses were a gift. I have never had the problem with any Riedel glasses but these came with a film on the glass that we are having a hard time getting rid of. What happened.
On Nov 9 I ordered a box of Riedel Vinum Cabernet glasses (8). I am, for the first time ever buying Riedel Vinum glasses, very disappointed. The Riedel Vinum glasses are clearly not of the same quality as previous Riedel Vinum Cabernet glasses I bought (same glasses). They are thiner. They are not as heavy. They are clearly more fragile and don't show the quality I have been used to. What happened? What changed in the making of those glasses that clearly transpires in less quality.
I am very disappointed that the descriptiony did not clearly indicate that these Riedel glasses are of lesser quality as those (supposedly same) I got before -- and I bought a lot of the same before.
Sign up for the email updates and catch the "free shipping" weekends. Dishwasher safe ONLY if your dishwasher drys with hot air (Bosch) and NOT with an electrical element at the bottom of the "tub". My everyday stems are more than ten years old and pass for brand new.
The wine glasses DO improve the varietal characteristics. Although Riedel says they are dishwasher safe, I never put them in there because 1) they are too tall, and 2) they get etched by the detergent. I have the Mondavi brand of varietal specific glasses, but the Riedel are a step above with their wonderfully thin rims and gorgeous, clear crystal.
These glasses are beautiful and show the wine at its best. You have a great view of color and the specific design for each type wine really helps get the best from the wine. These are very nice glasses that my friends and guests appreciate.
I already own glasses for Chardonnay and have two magnum glasses for my enjoyment of fine cabs, merlot and syraz. These are great glasses.
Although one arrived broken, it was immediately replaced. Because of other ratings I was very careful in cleaning these glasses and so far all has been good. I have not experienced any difficulty with breakage with my other Riedel stemware but will take the appropriate precautions. These glasses are always hand washed.
The shipping container protected the glasses which arrived unscathed. The glasses were ordered for an event. When used and washed they went back into the shipping container for storage until needed later - that's a convenience. The Wine Enthusiast web site is the most convenient way I have found to order Riedel glasses, and shipped promptly.
They were delivered directly to the recipient and arrived quickly and intact. Customer service was great: after ordering over internet I realized I had inverted 2 digits of the delivery address. A quick call to customer service corrected the problem.
We held a wine tasting dinner party with some incredible vintage wines from the the old world. We have the sommelier series for a smaller group of people but the vinum series was not only practical but fantastic in preserving the bouquet and taste of the wines to our guest. Highly recommend. I bought 48 and borrowed 24 from a friend.
I am a restaurateur, and I gave these glasses as a gift to my wine-loving sister. They are beautiful, and work well for any occasion, although they are probably too pricey to use for casual affairs--unless you won't get upset if a guest breaks one.
We use these glasses everyday. The only drawback is how delicate they are; but that is also what we like about them. Be very careful when washing them, even by hand. We had to replace the previous set of 8 with a new set due to breakage. The buy 6 get 8 is a deal, though, and well worth it. Life is too short to drink bad wine, or even good wine out of cheap glasses! Buy these!
