Hmm.. Two different answers to the same question... So which is it? Is the spigot metal or plastic?.
Mother of the bride on Apr 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: We apologize for the mix-up, originally the dispenser was available with metal spigot. The manufacturer has modified the product and switched over to a plastic spigot. All of the Mason Jar Beverage Dispenser come with a plastic spigot.
1. Is the glass lead free?
2. Is the spigot made of plastic or metal?
Pam on Jan 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question, on the Mason Jar Beverage Dispenser, its lead free and the spigot is metal.
Is there a bucket I can buy for a stand for the 2 gallon jar drink dispenser?
ALICIA on Sep 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Alicia,
Currently, at this time there is not.
Thank you
I would like to use this to make Kombucha. I need to know if there are any metal parts that may touch the scoby. If so, I need to keep looking. Metal can kill the scoby.
Surf City Holistic Nutrition on Dec 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. The spigot is made of plastic & the cover is made of tin. Any further questions, feel free to reach out to us at 800 356 8466. Best

Mine works great! For leaks, adjust!
Have used mine to brew kombucha for almost a year. Works great and has a smaller footprint than many alternative jars that hold less. If the spigot leaks, adjust the internal nut. It's either too tight (yes, that will deform the washer, causing it to leak) or too loose. It's a Goldilocks spigot -- there's a place where the tightness of the nut will be just right!

Looks great, but yes it leaks
All the other reviews were spot on. It's attractive and the Wine Enthusiast offered it at a much lower price than anywhere else, but yes the spout does leak. I was able to jiggle it and stop it from leaking most of the time, but it seems like a design flaw. I loved the large size. I made red hibiscus tea that looked beautiful in the glass jar and because it was so big, the tea lasted for a whole weekend of outdoor entertaining.

Plastic spigot leaked first time using
I expected a much better quality spigot for this jar- the cheap plastic one leaked the very first time I used it. What a complete waste of money :-( I really like the jar, though it is huge- but I expected to be able to use it at least once without leaks.

Poor Glass Quality
I instantly fell in love with this dispenser for use at my speakeasy party. When I went to wash it before I filled it for the first time, the glass cracked when it hit the soapy water. I didn't even have the water that hot. So bummed I couldn't use it at my party.
