I am totally unfamiliar with ths salt block. How do you use it? Do heat it and actually cook your food on it as suggested in the review? I am really interested and would like some more information about this product.

BEST ANSWER: Add wonderful flavor to food as you can use this Salt Block on the grill, in the oven, or even chill!
Can the same block be used for meats then ice cream or candy?

BEST ANSWER: Yes you can... It is not as porous as most other cutting boards. After each use, wash your Himalayan salt plate with warm water and a soft brush or green scrubby, and tamp dry with a paper towel before setting on a drying rack. This will remove a very thin layer of the salt and make it ready for use again. Treated with care, a large salt slab will provide years of service! In addition, the powerful antimicrobial properties of the salt insure that it is always proper and ready for future use, with no need for detergents.
How many uses can you get out of one plate?

Himalayan Salt Plate and Holder
I gave this as a gift to a family member. We immediately decided to try it out using scallops and thinly sliced pieces of steak, all of which we seasoned with just our homegrown herbs. We heated the block in the oven at 500 degrees for about 35 mins, then set it up on the dining table, and everyone had fun cooking their own pieces. The flavor of the salt penetrating into the seafood and meat was absolutely delicious.

great for foodies
Great for foodies. Heat and bring to table to put skewered shrimp, seafood, thin slices of meats and the soft salt taste from the salt plate will perfume the dish.

Salt plate & Holder
The block is heavy, so these holders are very handy. I highly recommend getting the holder with your salt block for both safety and ease of handling it at any time.

Some ten years ago one of my nieces gave me a salt block as a birthday gift. I use the salt block most of the time to bake fish or chicken in the oven. I heat the oven to 3-400 degrees with the salt block positioned under the grill. Once the oven is up to temperature I place the food to be cooked on the salt block and ignite the grill. The food cooks relatively. Once back to room temperature the block goes into the kitchen sink and I clean it with soap and a bristle brush.

Very impressed
We had heard about the salt plates from a friend so we thought we'd try it. Well, we were amazed how well the meat was flavored, and how easy it is to use the block. We raise and sell fullblood Wagyu beef so we wanted to try it. Now, we'll recommend it to our customers! It's a hit!
