The Chicken is painted to look old. Some say it is not completely painted. Well, it is painted to look like it is old and used. The cage is perfect and the chicken is painted to look like it is old and faded. It is not painted to look like it is band new. The chicken just sits on top of the wire basket. the two pieces do not inter connect together. this is not a problem. Could be if you have small children who would want to play with it or mess around with the two pieces. So place it out of reach of children. But, I love it and it looks great in the kitchen with the other country looking items.
Customer Service was unresponsive. I ordered the basket and immediately realized that my old address was attached to the credit card. I called Customer Service. They were closed but said to leave a message. I did. No one called me back. I called again, left a message. No one returned the call. When the product shipped it went to the wrong address. I called and spoke to a person and she was very uncooperative and argumentative. I would not use WE again. I received the product broken and now have to talk to them and hope they will let me return it.
