The globe is much smaller than you would expect, but fits a normal bottle of sherry. The stopper is plastic which gives an incredibly cheap feel and the cork broke after a week. The stand is hollow glass which accentuates the overall cheap feeling. This is best used in an office or personal bar.

I paid for gift wrapping and it was not wrapped when I got it - now I am having problems getting a credit for that since I had already paid for it.
The product was great but will not buy from Wine Enthusiast again and have spread the word as to the problem I am having.

I purchased one of these decanters years ago and kept a small amount of cognac in it. I recently discovered a pin-sized hole in the "Africa" portion of the globe that leaked profusely when I refilled the decanter with more liquid. I did not discover the hole previously because I never had that much liquid in the decanter and the hole was towards the top as it sits in its base. I have re-ordered another one (too much time passed I guess to seek a replacement) in hopes that the same defect will not be duplicated. The continent etchings on my decanter we fine - did not seem like decals at all.

Because I got this at a discount, I gave it 3 stars. I think I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. A little bit cheaper construction than the full price would indicate. Haven't used it to store any spirits yet, so I can't speak to durability or usability. It just looks cute displayed in our dining room. Would not recommend it for a gift.

This item photographs much better than it looks in hand. Remember those little decals that we used to put on Easter eggs as children? Well, thats how the map design is on the glass globe - including the creases that form when the decal isnt placed EXACTLY in the right place. This was a gift for my father-in-law, and although I highly doubt that he would notice - my mother-in-law would. I almost considered returning this item - but I feel that the irregularities are sooo minor that it would just be easier to keep it.

Wish I had know how impractical this product was going to be. Bought it as a Christmas present and very disappointed, almost to the point of returning it, but kept it as a novelty. Definately not a bar item.

This is super cute the only thing to keep in mind if you are thinking of buying it is that the decanter stopper is plastic and very very lightweight. It does kind of cheapen it a little bit for the price I paid for it, i couldn't be mad.

By far the most unique decanter I've seen. Pours well. It is delicate, but we're not planning on slamming it around anyway so we don't mind how fragile it is. We love it.
