Does this unit come with a warranty?
JP on Mar 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: try getting someone to work on this, their is no parts and no one will come out to even look at it Do not buy you will be sorry !!!!!!!
The pictures for this unit show 12 shelves, each with 4 regular sized bottles, yet the product specs say that it holds 80 bottles. Why the difference?
Janice B on Aug 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: the number of bottles is dependent on types, the upper 10 shelves will hold 7 bottles, four with wide end out and three the opposit direction, assuming Pinot noir or shorter bottles. The bottom two shelves are depth limited and will hold any 5 bottles. You can't fit 7 tall Zinfandel bottles and some Cabs on a 7 bottle shelf as they are too tall at the neck.
Is it ok to store both red and white wine at the same time?
Shanan S on Aug 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: technically red wine and white wine is stored at different temps and this cooler only has one setting. For practical purposes however you can set the temp that will best accomodate both wines and it works fine. Unless you have some collector reds you are planning on keeping for 8 to 10 years you can use this for both at the same time.
Is this unit cooled by a compressor or thermo-electric system?
Lee on Nov 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is a compressor based system.
does this fridge come with a lock?
g d on Nov 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: there is a "lock" (safety latch) at the bottom left that is operated by a 7/32 hex key which depresses a pin and turns the latch. Childproof but not really teen proof.
are the wire racks coated with plastic or rubber?
B O on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: there are no wire racks...wooden shelves.
Can shelves hold the weight of stacked bottles? If we remove a shelf and then stack bottles in the remaining area, will it hold up or break? Will you still be able to slide out the shelf with added weight?
Jim P on Aug 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't tried that myself, but I wouldn't recommend it. Although I think the shelf could handle the weight of stacked bottles, I don't think it would slide out well. Another thing you should know is that the shelves are spaced for Bordeaux style bottles, and thicker bottles like the Burgundy style are a tight fit. They will fit, but sliding out the shelf with the thicker bottles requires you to lift up a little on the shelf above at the same time. Overall though, I like the refrigerator. It looks stylish, works well, and is quiet.
Can this unit be stored in enclosed closet?
Teresa M on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Stored? If you mean operated as a bottle storage unit in a closed closet, I would not recommend that. Ventilation, especially behind and above is necessary and an enclosed closet would limit same.
Would like to put this in a large closet. Wondering if this would be ok if I still give it good clearance front and back?
Chuck M on May 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This unit is compressor based and is meant to be used free standing in a room with a 3" to 5 " clearance of air on the back , top and sides. You must determine if there is adequate ventilation with a fresh air source.
What is the thinnest unit you have? I see that most are 23" deep
Carlos S on Mar 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Carlos,

Hi,

Is the temperature range listed here for this single zone cooler correct or a typo (40 to 50 degrees)? If it is, it's too cold for storing my red wines.

Thanks.
Bart on Jun 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's probably a typo. I bought this cellar and it is in my dining room right now. I set the temperature at 58F and it is holding it at this temperature without any problem.
Is the LED light always on inside the cabinet or can it be turned off?
crzl99 on Nov 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: the light is controlled (on/off) by a touch sensitive light icon on the front panel.
Can I get the info on how many CFMs the ventilation fan is blowing on the evolution series 80 bottle unit; as well as the heat dissipation for this unit?
Victoria S on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is no fan. This unit is what they call direct cooling, just like your home refrigerator so there is no fan. Regarding the heat dissipation, we have no data as it's negligible.
Will this unit work on 104 current instead of 120?
rose b on May 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Evolution 80 requires a standard 110 or 120 standard outlet.
So....I am looking for a cheese cave refrigerator. Have you ever heard of anyone using this or similar coolers for cheese aging purposes? I am a commercial producer in Wisconsin and want to make and age a few 13 lb. gouda cheese wheels. I understand that I may have to substitute more appropriate shelving- but will this cooler have moisture condensation or other issues that might be a problem when storing waxed wheels of cheese?
rose b on May 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It would be best for cheese storage to speak directly with a storage consultant to discuss humidification and moisture and if there is a unit that would work for this purpose.

is there a users manual on line?
Rich on Apr 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I do not see one on line. I do see a 34 bottle evolution manual which is the same version but smaller.
Can this unit be moved short distances on a hardwood floor without damaging the floor?
Brown on Apr 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend putting down a drop cloth or blanket as these units do not have casters.
I have a smaller evolution series. Happy with it. Lost power recently for just a few minutes. It came back up set at 54 degrees, although it actually cools at a little higher, not 54. Not really an issue for me. Does the 80 bottle version reset as well when the power goes out and then comes back on? I have another cooler and it simply shutdown and I had to manually restart it.
KBL on Mar 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this unit will reset it self back to the factory setting
The location for this unit has a 19 1/2 inch opening. Will it be possible to move this unit through this door? Can this wine refrigerator be disassembled to accomplish this?
No nickname--my given name is Brown on Mar 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately the Evolution 80 can not be taken apart to fit through a doorway.
Can this item sit directly on carpet or does it need to be standing on a tile or wood floor.
Baylorbear on Feb 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This item can sit directly on carpet.
One of the locations I would like to place this in my home is very close to a baseboard heating element. Do you know if this will be an issue for the unit?
Gretchen on Jan 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This unit needs 3-4 inches of clearance all around and should be in an environment that does not exceed 80 degrees or go below 65 degrees as far as ambient temperature. If proper ventilation is not allowed for and temps exceed 80 that will be an issue.
Can shelves be angled or tilted for display purposes?
Seabass on Jan 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No these shelves only work one way.
Does this unit have a heating element? Is it appropriate for a garage where the temperature ranges from 20 degrees to 90 degrees?
Sylvia on Dec 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Sylvia,
This unit is not appropriate for temperature ranges as low as 20 degrees.
Please look at our Eurocave (solid door) models as the have the ability to heat as well as cool. Please give one of our Wine Cellar Specialists a call @ 1-800-356-8466 to further discuss and see which cellar best fits your needs.
Thank you
Is it right hinge only?
Wino on Dec 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the 80 bottle is a right hinge only.
How many magnums will this unit hold?
Does the light turn off?
Is there a lock and key?
Can the buyer specify open left or right?
Thanks.
Kristy on Nov 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Approximately 10 magnums. Yes, the light can be turned off. The unit does have a lock and key and the item is a right hinge only.
Does this unit have a lock?
Bill on Nov 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This unit has a lock.
Does the free shipping includes bringing it to my basement down on a stair from the main floor?
Greg on Oct 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The free shipping is a door to door service which means they will call you to schedule a window
of delivery and deliver to the first enclosure front door or garage. The shipper does not unpack the unit. However you can upgrade the service to an inside delivery down to the basement as well for a fee. Please call 1-800-377-3330 and a storage consultant will assist you.
How quiet is it? Do you the number of decibels?

Why are there no reviews?
Sarah on Oct 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This unit is similar to a standard compressor driven refrigerator as far as being quiet. The reviews are similar to the 73 bottle Evolution series, this wine cellars isa new size and just placed online, thus the lack of reviews at this time.
Are the shelves completely removable to accommodate 1.5 and 3L bottles?
LinseyUT on Oct 21, 2014

Happy Customer
The unit is very attractive and the wood shelves display the wine well. It is quiet and the temperature and light are both easy to use. The space between the shelves make it difficult to store pinot or wide bottles like Turley. If you have many of these bottles you have to remove a shelf which reduces the total number of bottles you can store. Overall, however, we are very happy with this purchase!

80 bottle, not so much
this arrived 2 months after the original delivery date. 80 bottle frig holds 52 bottles by my count. not built for cab bottles apparently. the drawers are not substantial, quite flimsy.
April 3, 2015
great no frills cooler
Delivery was worth about what I paid (free). Unit was shipped on the 19th, arrived in phoenix on the 24 with a (unscheduled) delivery date of the 28th. Sat in phoenix until the 4th. I suspect the delivery was sped up by my call to wine enthusiast customer service. I guess they don't have regular deliveries north of Phoenix. The delivery company was polite but non responsive. The delivery went well and the unit arrived uncrated and was placed where I wanted it.

Perfect for my needs
The folks at Wine Enthusiast and the shipper were great to work with. Accommodated my tight schedule on short notice.

I have this in a corner of my kitchen. I needed something that would let me lay down some bottles for a few years, as well serve as short-term storage for others. I have neither the space nor the funds to go big with something like Eurocave (though I would love to have both the space and the funds!). This seemed like a good option-- very reasonable price, compressor cooling (which I prefer for longevity's sake), nice design, reasonable capacity. A move is likely in the next few years, and I don't feel as if I've locked down my storage options for the future, as this was really a modest investment and one that I can move past with no regret over the money spent.

It's quiet enough for the kitchen, making about as much noise as the water cooler-- not much at all. Some of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay bottles are a squeeze, but that's to be expected. I haven't met capacity yet, and don't expect to fit exactly 80. But it's clear that it will do at least 60 with no trouble.

Seems to me that it's a great starter unit, and one that can move to overflow duty should I upgrade, or perhaps serve as a dedicated unit for a rec room or basement bar area.

Added space
satisfied need for additional storage, but not even close to 80 bottle capable.
Delivery was on time, efficient, easy installation
For price, I'm satisfied, but could use another one in future as immediately filled what I could
December 15, 2014
Meets our needs perfectly
Due to the size of some of our bottles it will easily hold about 65 bottles. It even holds our magnum bottles. Shelving slides in and out easily. The product is of good quality and relatively quiet.

Just Right
Took about a week to ship, and if I hadn't called to ask, I think it might have taken longer. The freight company called and asked most convenient time to deliver. Driver was on time and brought it into the garage. From there I moved it on a dolly to my pantry.

So far So Good
No problems with delivery

New 80-bottle wine refrigerator
So far we really appreciate it. We like the lines/design, size and appearance. We appreciate the pull-out racks. Only one little problem--the labels we hang on the bottles fall off if they don't hang inside the wooden slats or edge.

It's easy to set it and runs quietly. I recommend it for wine lovers
who want to take advantage of good wine sales and need a little more space than the 30-bottle models.

If you have any more suggestions, just e-mail maryjoshively@gmail.com. Jacquelyn purchased this model for us.

80-Bottle Evolution Series Wine Refrigerator
For the size and price, I think this is a great value. It run's quiet, and look nice. Your best bet is to run it emply and once it reaches the desired temp, slowly put bottles in. It came well packed, no scratches, run great - no issues with the unit. (As others noted, it does not hold close to 80 bottle, but that was expected) On the negative side, delevery was not great. They placed it on my driveway and I was told they are unable to move it or help me put it inside the house - company policy so they incure no liability if unit is broken. I was a bit shocked and a bit annoyed. I did have a handtruck, so was able to move myself, but image this would be an issue for some folks, so confim when its ordered.

Overall it's well worth the price and I'm very happy with it.
