Does the little container on the back of the unit need to be emptied or always full of water.
Robert on Aug 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Robert,
That container is just a safety in case of excess condensation. It will only build up a small amount of condensation if any at all.
Thank you
I live in an un-airconditioned apartment and it reaches 90-100 typically during the Summer though usually for not more than 4-5 days before relenting again to the 80's or 70's. One of your answers to another question says these units are meant for ambient temperatures no higher than 80. How would they react during those days that are above 80, inside and out?
gabbott on May 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: These wine cellars are made to work more efficient in an area where the ambient temperature does not exceed 80 degrees. We do offer many or the wine cellars that can work in ambient temperatures over 80. Pleasant call our consultants at 800-356-8466 and they can assist with your decision.
What is decibel rating? I.e., how loud is the unit?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can not tell you the actual decibel rating. However, we placed our cooler in my office. This worked for spacing and never interferes with my audio system or TV. We are extremely pleased with our purchase. We also were pleased that after a power outage, our units returned to acceptable temperatures.
Condensation is forming on the upper level. Is this normal?
Linda D on Jul 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There should be no condensation, HOWEVER, my first one developed condensation and we shipped it back for a replacement, the replacement does the same thing and now it is showing up between the two pieces of class in the dual pane glass door. It is up to you how much hassle you want to go through. I keep a small towel close by and wipe it down. I know this is not the answer you wanted but this has been my experience.
can I put this refrigerator in a closet?
Barry S on Aug 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It may not be the most efficient place from an energy use perspective. Since it is a small refrigerator and uses a small compressor, it does generate a small amount of heat that is vented out of the back, as part of the cooling process. Obviously, the hotter the environment, the more often the compressor has to run to maintain the temperature that you have set. If the closet is big enough and has sufficient ventilation it may be a negligible amount of extra heat being trapped in the closet. You could always put a couple of vents on the closet door (one low, one high) if it becomes a problem.
Will this 73 unit also hold beer/soda cans? Other types of bottles?
bottle guy on Sep 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Simple answer, yes. Longer answer is that it is designed to hold wine bottles laid on their side, about 6 per rack (alternating directions). You could put bottles / cans in that same configuration and it would support that no problem. However, you also have to realize that the temperatures that you store wine at is different than soda / beer. You will have to check but I think that the top zone (the colder one) can get to ~40 deg F and the bottom one (the warmer one) can get down to ~50 deg F.
What is the lowest temp for white wines?
Colonel on Sep 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi the temperature settings are : Temperature Range Upper Zone - 40°F - 50°F/Lower Zone – 50°F - 66°F
Will this wine chiller (73-Bottle Evolution Series Dual Zone Wine Refrigerator) fit longer than average bottles? The description says 23" D, however another review stated the shelves are only 16"??
LorenLoren on Jul 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have no trouble fitting taller bottles like some Rieslings or Gewurtztraminers. The shelves may be only 16" but there is room behind and in front of the shelves in the unit for the bottles to hang over a bit.
The listing says 73 bottles, but the pictures appear to show only 50-55 bottles (even if all are Bordeaux standard). What is the difference?
Tally Ho on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Bottles can be turned to allow more storage space. If you have the bottom of the bottle facing the door and the next bottle turned with the cork facing the door, you can fit in more bottles. We LOVE ours! In fact, we love it so much, we purchased two of them. Two units with the dual temp is perfect for storing, reds, whites, and sparkling.
does this come in a left hinge version?
Jcg D on Oct 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Mine was also right hinge and I don't recall seeing a left hinge option when ordering. The hinge cannot be changed over which is probably due to the controls being mounted on both doors so there would be wiring issues. Its a really great wine fridge if you can live with the right hand opening.
Is there a lock feature available for this unit?
TCC Mgr on Dec 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately there is no lock for this unit. Any further questions, please reach out to us at 800 356 8466. Best.
Can this unit fit Magnum and Double Magnum sized bottles?
Jamal P on May 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I own two of these units and I love them. However, when all of the shelves are in, you cannot fit larger bottles. The top shelf is has a bit more space, so you should have no problem with a couple magnums, but if you have a lot of them you would need to just take out the shelves, which pull out very easily. As far as a jerobaum, you would need to take out a shelf and lay it sideways in the fridge or stand it upright because the depth of the shelves (from front to back is only about 16 inches. Hope this helps!
Is the door hinged on the left or right? In other words, which side swings out?
okdodd on Apr 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The hinge is on the right so the handle is on the left and it swings from left to right
As i live in Australia i would like to know if the fridge can be converted to Celsius as oppose to Fahrenheit. as well as having different electrical ports to fit those in Australia
Kostas on Apr 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes the unit can show temperature in Celsius however these units are 110 volt units and not made to be 220.
Could you put it in an enclosed area (closet)?
Wine connoisseur on Apr 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not recommended all wine cellars need air flow. If it is a large closet that gets vented you could do so.
Are all of the shelves included in this refrigerator?
JudyB on Dec 27, 2013
Yes they are!
Thank you
Can you stack 2 of these units on top of eachother?
Wine Lover on Nov 10, 2013

Will Chardonnay bottles fit on shelves?
tom c on Jun 30, 2016
I'm interested in the 73- bottle Evo, but from the reviews, a lot are saying it really only holds approx. 51- bottles of the smaller bordeaux size. I don't want to remove the shelves to gain capacity. What will the frig really hold with shelves if all bottles are the smaller size? And why would people be saying it doesn't hold 73-'bottles when you advertise that it does. Last, if not satisfied, what's your return policy? Thank you.
John J on Jun 23, 2016
73 bottle capacity is based on if you had all standard Bordeaux 750 ml bottles.
If you have mostly all smaller size bottles i would say a realistic bottle capacity is 60-65.

As for returning the cellar, you would be responsible for shipping and a restocking fee.
You can get an exact total amount confirmed with our Customer Care Department @ 1-800-648-6058.
Thank you.

Can this unit be place in an open front cabinet that is 30 inches deep and 23 inches wide?
Fred on Jan 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Please have at least 5" of clearance all the way around including the top and back. Sounds like you are good on the width as these units are meant to be free standing.

Is there any place in Southern California where I can see one of these?
Joe on Jan 20, 2015

BEST ANSWER: The Evolution models have a decibel level of 43-45.
Is this front vented?
Ginny on Jul 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The Evolution 73 bottle wine cellar is rear vented and requires at least 3-4" of space on all sides , top and rear of the cabinet for proper operation. We do offer other front vented built-in wine cabinets, please reach one of our sales consultants at 800-356-8466

DrBob on Jul 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Dr Bob,
The temperature readout shows set temperature only. If you have any further questions please contact our Technical department @ 1-800-648-6058 option # 2.
Thank you
can half the shelves be wine and beer stacked on the bottom like an over under? flat shelves on the bottom and wine on the top?
ski on May 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The shelves are all slatted wood for wine bottle storage. However the shelves are removable .
If you wanted to be creative and have a flat piece of material cut to fit and placed on the slatted wood you would be able to store cans upright . This would require that you eliminate some shelves to accommodate the height of a beer can. Also the colder temperature is at the top and will go down to 40 degrees .
Can this unit be placed in a garage or is it thermo-electrically cooled
Jon on May 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This unit cannot be placed in a garage. It is compressor based but can only work properly with in environments where the ambient temperature stays between 60-80 degrees.
What is the bottle capacity for each zone?
Kate on Jan 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Kate,
Approximately 28 in upper section and 45 in bottom section.
Thank you

Great Unit For Anyone
Great Unit. Easy to set up and unload. Worked immediately. Achieved desired temps in less than an hour from set up. Fits plenty of bottles and could easily fit near a bar or out of the way. Not and easy trick for a 73 bottle unit. Great for beginners or the seasoned wine connoisseur. We will probably get another to set side by side. Oh and the lighting is pretty cool.

One negative is the shelves are not on glides and feel a bit flimsy when loading the fridge. Made me nervous they were just going to topple out. No incident but once loaded is a great piece we are proud to display.

Some good, some not so good
I purchased this because I just moved into a new home and sold my previous wine cellar with the home. I do love the dual storage areas in this cellar however, I feel that the storage capacity is misrepresented. The only way to store 72 bottles of wine is to remove the shelves and stack the wine. This would be extremely inconvenient if you use it regularly. With the shelves in it only holds about 50 bottles. Additinally, the shelves do not slide in and out easily when you have 5 bottles of wine on them.

Just What I Expected
Delivered when we expected it, and arrived in good condition. My only complaint was that the tape used to hold the doors shut was difficult to remove - it took some elbow grease and Goof Off to do it.

Bad delivery. Bad cooler.
This item had to be returned. It started with the delivery, which came an hour outside the delivery window and was delivered to the wrong house. The Celsius/Fahrenheit switch didn't hold. So, it kept switching back and forth. I was unable to set specific temperature designations. Condensation formed between the double pane glass windows in the top zone. The Cooler had to be returned. We'll see how the next one works.

Not clear on abilities
it fit nicely where we needed it to go.

Sadly the upper cooler cannot be adjusted above 50 degrees. If you prefer reds then the upper cooler is impractical. This reduces the advertised capacity.

Very nice
Really like the new wine cooler. It's attractive and keeps the wine at a perfect temp. To be honest I didn't think it would look as good as it does. Great cooler and great price.

Nice Cabinet. Solid and stable. Quiet
There is no way this unit will hold 73 bottles of wine. Other than that I like the product very much.

73-bottle wine refrigerator
Absolutely recommend this product. We outgrew our 28-bottle wine refrigerator. This one was a great replacement. Love the sliding wood shelves.
